With our luck, Pats hire him to run the defense, and he truly tortures us for years.

This scenario honestly came into my head the other day.

I really could see it happening.

His ego would clash with BB. They also have different defensive philosophies. Rex believes in pressure to disrupt things. BB believes in patience and letting the other guy make the mistake. Personally, I'm more of a pressure guy but BB has shown that his way can work as well.

There are no coaches who fully understand both sides of the ball... It's unrealistic to think so.

And Rex isn't taking that job and I hope he doesn't get fired..

He'd be great for college b/c he's very ra ra and would be able to go into a recruits house and talk them up big time.

I always thought herm would be a great college coach too... for the same reasons. Especially going into a black kids house and talking to mom w/ no dad... Saying he's going to look after her son.

No one in their right mind that could have either of those types of jobs would ever go to coach football in Kentucky--a program that has no fans, no real support and is basically a joke in the SEC.

Kentucky makes Vanderbilt look like Alabama.
Going to KY would be such a letdown for Rex. Ain't nebba gonna happen.

you do not know what you are talking about. The program has many, many fans that turn out for the games and buy team merchandise. Lexington is a great area to be on college football game day! There is MUCH support for the team. The football team is a disaster dating back to the HAL MUMME days and were heavily penalized for recruiting violations. They have never recovered from that! I agree they are bottom feeders in the SEC but a real HC and the AC director Mitch Barnhardt can turn that program around. I do not know if Lexington is ready for a REX RYAN as its HC. Its an interesting thought but that team needs a HC who understands both sides of the ball.

Why did John Harbaugh get the job in Baltimore over Rex despite their putrid offensive performances?

    Your answer lies there.

Rex is a defensive coordinator. His "head coaching ability," is much more applicable at the college level, similar to Pete Carroll's rah-rah, no worries, brah approach and how it will fail in the next 2-3 years in Seattle.

Rex would be better off overall getting the hell out, taking a high-paying college job, then coming back to the NFL a few years later to some contract similar in ridiculousness to Carroll.

DC maybe but I don't think he'd get another HC job immediately. The Jets slide over the last 2 years has not reflected well on Rex.

I do think Rex would be perfect for the college game. His ability to recruit would be unrivaled.

I would normally agree with you but Herm and Mangini were able to get HC positions immediately after the Jets, and I think Rex is by far a better coach than either of those guys.

It wouldn't be a slam dunk, but it definitely could happen.

If he is fired after the season, he would go be a DC for an nfl team and have no problem doing that.

Rex has made it just as far as Harbaugh with a worse team...

Good I was a Rex supporter but this blindness to how bad Sanchez and Wilson are has me thinking it is time for him to go.
