Now that I'm finally out of my car and taking the train into the city again for work, I've been re-acquainted with current fashion trends. Glad to see the era of giant, low slung pants seems to have cooled down among the younguns. Yet while admitting that I'm a cantankerous old butt-scratcher, I've noticed in transit these trends in the past few months that have me scratching my head:
Stupid:
Straight-brimmed baseball caps with all the labels and tags left on. WTF is that about? These retards look like 2012 versions on Minnie Pearl.
Corpse-color finger and toe nail polish. Black? Green? Blue? I'm seeing a ton of this. Under normal circumstances if your nails are any of these colors nature is telling you that something is rotting and wrong.
Ridiculous foot tatoos: I'm not a big fan of tats but a small one in the right place can at times, it could be argued, accentuate and add a little sexiness. Recently though I've seen a lot of women with giant tatoos on the tops of their feet. And they're weird...like the girl on the train the other day who on the top of each foot had a large tatoo of a hot dog in a bun and the bun had wings. You really wanna go through life like this?
Cool:
Girls using a combination of a jacket that cuts of sharply at the hips worn over a clingy sweater that fully encompases their butt to accentuate their hind parts. Gotta love the creativy + the subtleness that goes into this look.
Girls is long boots (over knee height or even higher) appear to be back in vogue. Always loved the look of a girl in long leather boots.
No Ruling:
When did The North Face start marketing itself to the black community? It used the be, like EMS, a clothing line aimed at white, yuppie, suburbanites. All of a sudden every American born black person on the train regardless of age is wearing a North Face jacket or toting a North Face back pack.

Those straight brimmed caps are ugly and stupid looking as ****. I wish Mitchell & Ness would go back to making normal looking caps again.
My guess on the North Face thing is possibly the same reason Timberland is. I see more urban people wearing Timberland stuff than I ever do anywhere else. My guess is that because that **** is expensive, has something to do with swag.

meh, why not?![]()
Agreed on all points, especially:
Love the high boots look
Hate the flat brim caps. When goofy white hipsters where that I think we can safely say that era is over
The foot tattoos -- what?? I can't get over how bad that looks.
I find the following unattractive/annoying/silly:
Women's jeans with pockets below the but cusp. Completely unflattering.
Cutouts on the sides of dresses. Just tacky.
Skinny jeans on guys.
Winter gloves without fingers.
Uggs and pajama pants.
Redrobes and shakin's hat.
