4 turnovers converted into 28 points by the Patriots.

The Patriots won by 30 points.

    30-28=2 POINTS!

The point differential in this game without the turnovers was 2 POINTS! The Jets lost at Gillette by 3 POINTS! There is no significant difference between these two teams, they are very very closely matched regardless of what the score was. Hence the Jets were NOT OUTPLAYED, they simply lost the turnover battle. On the other hand the Packers were soundly OUTPLAYED by the Giants and we can infer that if they meet the Giants again in the playoffs they will LOSE. The Jets on the other hand could meet the Patriots in the playoffs and if they can control their turnovers COULD WIN!

    Understand?
You are the worst kind of football fan. The fan who knows absolutely nothing about the game except what the numbers tell him, but who is too stubborn to just give up on an argument when people who know 10x more about the game than you ever will are all saying the same thing.

You would think that the fact that this thread has gone on for 6 pages without a single person agreeing with you would set off some kind of alarm. But no, you'll just keep plugging away at the same argument that would only get you any traction if you were a guest on The View.

You have a better chance of selling a mouthpiece to a zombie than making ANYONE on this board agree with anything you've said in this rambling, incoherent babble of a thread you've created. Please just give it up.

This is why I tell my kids not to call other people stupid. Some people can't help it. They really believe they're smart.

I feel sorry for those Jets fans who actually know something about the game of football.

    Here's another interesting factiod:

In the first game at Gillette the Jets had 2 turnovers and the Patriots had 1 (a lost fumble). The differential: ONE TURNOVER.

In the game last thursday the Jets had 5 turnovers (4 Fumbles & 1 INT) and the Pats only had 1 (one lost fumble). Differential: 4 TURNOVERS.

    First game: 1 Turnover difference.

    Last game: 4 Turnover difference.

Four turnovers converted into 28 points by the Patriots.

    Patriots win by 30 points.

    30-28= 2 Points.

Without the turnovers this game is even more close than the first Jets-Pats game at Gillette.

We started last thursday with two very closely matched teams, but you can't have a 5-to-1 turnover rate and still expect to win under these circumstances. I blame the Jets for the turnovers, but those turnovers do no relate to the ability of the team to compete in the trenches. If the Jets could replay this game today and control all those turnovers they could win. Any reasonable person can see the truth of this, anyone but the average Pats troll on a Jets forum that is.

    You may be onto something.

You know what else? Without the 290 points that have been put up against the Jets so far this season, they would be 11-0 right now.

How the hell are these two teams "evenly matched"?

Pats are 8-3 and can clinch the AFCE this weekend when they destroy the Dolphins. Jets are 4-7 and sitting in last place in the AFCE.

The early Power Rankings this week have the Pats at #3 and the Jets at #28.

These teams are about as evenly matched as Custer going up against the Indians.

So by that logic, the Jets were beat by the Bills during the opening game of the season

The Bills had 4 turnovers and the Jets had 1. That's a net of 3 turnovers or 21 points. Since the Jets won by 20 points, they really lost by one point.

    The Bills > Jets

    Brilliant!!!!!

LOL you are probably a troll, but you don't see the correlation of turnover ratio to bad/good football teams. Teams are good because they don't turn the ball over and bad teams turn the ball over and don't create turnovers.

How come you had to come from behind in the 4th quarter at Gillette to eek out a 3 point win in overtime against the 28th rated team in the NFL then? How come the point differential in the last game was only 2 points without the turnovers there to help you?

Face it, you may be 8-3 but you have a seriously flawed team. Your defense just let Mark Sanchez roll up 300+ yards against you. If Mark Sanchez can do that what will Peyton Manning do to you in the playoffs?

Great, you beat the Jets on turnovers... You'll make the playoffs... But to assume you're going anywhere once you get there is a pipedream. The first team you meet with a bigtime QB and you are going home with a really really bad loss. Have fun the rest of the season, because it all ends for you in the playoffs. Once more year and no Superbowl for Billy either.

If the Pats could only begin to approach the Jets future, all of us Pats fans could sleep better at night.

Once the Pats were ahead there was no reason to totally open up the play book. Even if Jets had punted after each of those series or scored a fg/td on the int. drive, based on the lack of emotion and focus all game on the Jets part. There was no reason not to believe the Pats would not drive down the field and score. The WHAT IFS mean nothing in the NFL because each play and series there after has changed.
The pats dug a little deeper after the first game and came out a better prepared team and it showed.
