I stated my reasons. If you don't agree, move on.

The jets invested money, picks, players and four years into this guy.
We have no viable option on the roster and the draft will not produce a qb for us.
Where do they go, Vick, smith, come on.

Look at other franchises that have been through the same scenario to see what will happen if Sanchez fails.

There is some truth to that

    Sanchez has already failed.

Why the hell can't you see that?

    Jesus Christ

That's a good argument why we might be screwed next year. Your hypothesis was we're screwed for five years. It's in your title. You haven't made a single cogent argument why such might be the case. Why does clinging desperately to a mistake like Sanchez give us a better opportunity to change course on this trainwreck, rather than benching his worthless ass does?

Maybe five years is overstated, but if you look at the history of teams that draft qb's high in the first round, harrington, leaf, ramsey, the list goes on, these teams take years to recover.
In most cases, you will suffer through at least 2 really bad years. I dont want that.
I want Sanchez to work, not because I like the guy, but for the team.

Franchise qb's dont grow on trees.

We dont have one on the roster and there is none in free agency next year.

the draft this year is horrible.

So where do the jets get their qb if Sanchez fails?

First round high qb pick busts kill your franchise for years.
Yes... And most of them are busts... Hell, even the ones who are solid are a waste of time. The teams that win are the teams who have that great QB. You just keep drafting until you find that great QB.

It sucks but we missed with Sanchez. As most teams do in the first round..

those two years were more successful than 68 and 69? how do you figure that?

the jets did not even with the division either year and lost in the conference game. In 68 the won the whole thing and in 69 they won the division.

    1) Jets do not have a NFL QB on their roster.

    2) No one in the Jets organization can properly evaluate college talent (just look at the last couple of drafts).

    3) Thanks to Tanny's ridiculous contracts, Jets have the worst cap situation in the NFL.

    4) They have a mediorce DC as their Head Coach who continuously demonstrates he is clueless.

Jets a looking at a pretty dismal 5-year period.

You mean to take a 2nd round pick like Brees?

    13 years?

Funny, I think I'm too old to listen to the constant whining of Jet fans and the over the top predictions of doom

It's a recurring theme for some Jets fans.

Only a clueless moron would ever say that any NFL team is looking at a 5 year anything.

The NFL landscape changes by the year.

Again, only a moron would make blanket statements like that.

    Or a troll.

3-13 as in the record, not years. Thanks for making me laugh.

Quite possibly the dumbest post I have seen in a while. First of all he has already failed. Second, acknowledging that now gives the Jets the chance to recover, not doom them for 5 more years. Your post is completely ridiculous

Yes, some of us have said this in other recent threads.

Basically you are right, but you can use Ryan, and Flacco as better examples if they don't get to the promised land, and maybe they will, there is a possible 5 years wasted, hell McNabb had 10 years. Additionally, this team has more than just a QB issue on O. Stick to your guns.

That sounds like SOJ BS.. Jets 1-15 in 96... AFCCG 12-4 2 years later.. Fins 1-15 in 07.. 08 11-5 with Chaddy and made the Playoffs..

Happens to every team that drafts a QB in the 1st round who doesn't succeed.

so the Bucs and Falcons are next. 1st round QBs who have zero playoff wins. They might have success in the regular season but it doesn't mean a thing if you can win (or even get to) the playoffs.

    1. The Sanchez implosion cost us two years, '11 & '12

    2. The dumb Tanny contract extension cost us a year, '13

    3. Don't look now but I like McElroy. The fat lady ain't sung on him yet.

    4. I'd be curious to see some replies:

Who set us back worse, Sanchez or Gholston?

    (ans: Gholston)
