Seriously, what a great band. This guy's 70! Still sounds great.
I'm appreciating the fact that this setlist isn't the same as all the other charity shows that Paul's done. Just so many times you can hear Hey Jude, Let It Be, and Get Back at these things.

Yeah, he's got to stop interjecting this new material at these benefit shows, not like he's actually trying to promote albums or has the weight of a huge contract on his shoulders.

I'd actually like to hear him cover a Lennon song, a light one like "Starting Over" or something, get Sean or Julian up there.

Right on. I haven't heard him do Blackbird before. Awesome. How lucky are we that one of these guys is still out there performing at this genius level. Beatles, best most influential rock band of all time. How ridiculous is it that three of the most talented MF'ers on earth wound up in the same band?

I missed most of this concert, but from what I did see it looked like Roger Waters freaking killed it.

**** quality, but Numb w/ Vedder is up:

On a side note, it's simply STUNNING how much of a change Roger's personality has undergone. From literally the least fan-friendly performance-hating guy on earth, to.....this, a man who appears to have come to Jesus about performance and his fans and the live setting.
Warfish, when it comes to live performances, I don't throw around compliments easily. Waters' set left me with my mouth agape. IMO, just spectacular. I was singing along to every tune.

You're right. It truly is amazing that the cranky, reclusive Waters is now, once again, showcasing his stage chops. And, the guy can pick band members and guest artists (Vedder ruled and you could tell Waters was impressed as well). No disrespect, but Nick Mason dreams of playing like his current drummer.

This is completely incorrect, DD. Chris Martin is a MAJOR talent as both a performer and songwriter.

Here's a guy who steps out, alone, onto the MSG stage and just plays and sings flawlessly. First on solo acoustic guitar, then accompanying Michael Stipe on the classic (and not easily played) "Losing My Religion", and finally alone again at the piano for his final number. When you have 20K+ people quiet and appreciating your work, you're doing something magical and impressive.

Martin also had one of the night's best lines. I'll paraphrase: He instructed all the people at home who were contemplating it to make a donation based on the average age of the performers there last night.

As always, the master played beautifully. I just wish he had done a Cream or D&TD tune.

His three piece band cooked. Bass player was great.

Keith looked one step from Death's door. Why only two songs?

Also, mix on the band's bass player was too loud and drowned out any guitar work.

That was classic and funny. Obviously, the director--or "delay button specialist--had never heard "Who Are You" before, which contains the lyric, "Who the f**k are you".

Later, after Townshend and Daltry finished with "Tea & Theatre", Pete thanked the audience for their dedicated service and bellowed out, "or have a f**king beer!" LOL.

Very impressive audio/visual technology. I saw them on that Quadrophenia Tour, from which Keith's filed section was taken. Simultaneously, sad and uplifting.

Although still in remarkably great shape, I did not need to see Daltry's surgical scar.

Usually, although I respect him immensely, I would have agreed. I mean, how many times can you hear "Hey Jude" or the other four or five Beatles' tunes he trots out and plays perfunctorily? And most to odd swing, not their original rock, beats.

But last night? It was another story. Paul looked energized and pulled out some vintage chestnuts, which he and his stellar band performed beautifully. Waters gets my nod for last evening's best performance. But Paul was a very close second.

These are my guys. No question, the band which I love, and have influenced me the most.

That said, it was painful to watch their set. Unlike 2001's Concert for New York City, where they unleashed a legendary and powerful performance (as well as stealing the show and heart's of the MSG audience filled with first responders), they looked to have aged considerably and the music, although not horrible, suffered noticeably. This makes me depressed.

Borg, I think Martin has talent, although I strongly prefer Coldplay's earlier works. I just think he is a doosh.

Oh, you're talking about his personality? Other than he married a cute wife, I know next to nothing about the guy.

All I know is that it takes brass ones to get on the MSG stage alone and perform as he did. Most pop/rock artists wouldn't dare without auto-tune, samples, or backing band to help hide their limited talents.

You guys are killing me. I totally forgot about this and instead out of boredom re-watched the first four episodes of "The Wire" last night.

Is the entire concert available to view online yet... anywhere?

As they want to maximize donations, I would guess they will have a pretty tight wrap around any video of the gig. Probably setting up sales of DVD/Streaming and iTunes.

I just found McCartney playing with the guys from Nirvana. This impressed me. Not because of the music (which was fine), but because Paul just seems so reinvigorated. Vocally, he blows the doors off the place. And plays slide. WTF! Awesome.

I am sure he is a nice guy and great husband/father. He named his kid Apple. Kinda dooshy.

Anyways, I agree with you about The Who. I was really looking forward to them and I think they fell a little short of expectations. Maybe they were on a little too long. But I think Daltrey was over-powered by instrumentals. I think the crowd did play a role.

I can't stand Brian Williams and his phucking voice. Made me angry every time they showed him. He is not funny.

Waters/Vedder and Clapton were my favorite performances of the night.
