look, similar to our government, the Jets will not do what is in our best interest to win games. What they will do is try to bring in big name pieces to sell PSL's. This team has no heart, it has no loyalty to it's fans, all it is is a shell of profit, with Mr. Johnson at the helm, cracking the ol' whip...

Indeed. With Lolchez throwing to him, he has 52 receptions for 728 yards for a 14 ypr avg in 13 games. Guy would do swell with a great QB throwing to him.

In his 2nd season in Miami (his best with Miami), he had Culpepper throwing to him. He had 67 receptions for 687 yards. The very next year (his first in NE), he had 112 receptions for 1,175 yards. Every year since he's had Brady throwing to him he's had 100+ rec/1,000+ yard seasons except for 2010 when he was coming off of an MCL/ACL injury.

It's Brady. Give Welker Lolchez and his numbers go right back down.

Not saying Welker is a bad receiver, he certainly isn't. What I'm saying is that he wouldn't have some great success with the Intchez throwing his way.

There has been a few threads already on the jets available cap room. The pats last year offered 2 years 16mill all guaranteed and he said no and played for 9 mill this year. His demand will probably be at lest what the pats offered last year.

IMO he would need a premium to leave NE and Brady as he has an outside chance at the HOF if he puts two more great seasons.

Good discussion thank you guys. I agree he is not worth $30 million but either we need receivers who can get open or a QB who can throw to open receivers. Right now there is nobody on offense who scares opposing defenses. That HAS to change

This. I mean, it really comes down to money. If Welker is wanting a final big contract, then I'd have to say no. Doesn't mean I don't think he's a solid slot reciever, but I just don't think a 31 year old wr, who didn't even go over 700 yards until he had Brady throwing to him, is worth it. I'd rather, you know......develop our own young talent?

The jets Would be better off fixing the foundation, and not painting the shutters.

Welker has lower value than Santonio Holmes without Brady.

The contract impasse can be summed up like this:

Tom Brady throws you the ball. You have some talent but you aren't close to a top tier WR without Tom Brady throwing you the ball.

Not that he couldn't duplicate his success on other teams, but with our system and our QB, you'd see a shell of the Welker you see on the Pats.
Clearly it's an advantage for Welker to be playing with Brady, but he showed the same skills when he was with Miami. The problem was that the Phins tried to protect him with a lower tender and the Pats jumped in, offering them an additional draft pick (7th I think) plus the 2nd they would receive if the Pats claimed him. The Pats made the Phins an offer they couldn't refuse.
