    Please explain

If both Pittsburgh and Miami loss out and the Jets win out how do we still not get in the playoffs ? Or if the Bengals, pittsburgh lose out and the dolphins lose 1. Just not sure why the jets still dont have the same chance as the dolphins.

If that happens, the Colts and Bengals get the two wildcard places.

Cincy & Pitt play each other, so both cannot lose out.

Are you talking about this year or next year?

    We're done.

Some of us accepted it in August.

This. Since they play each other either, Bengals ends up 9-7 and get in with a better record, or Pittsburgh wins, go 8-8 at worst and still have the head to head tiebreaker. Even if they tie, and lose their next games, Bengals get in.

    The Jets are mathematically eliminated.

If the Jets made the playaffs, I'd personally complain to the commissioner about the integrity of the league if I could do so without actually getting off the couch.

In the long run, Mon. Night was the best thing that could happen for Jet fans. Lets not ruin it with some fugazy getting in the backdoor action reminicent of JT on a bender with a cooler of KY.

This is why expanding the play offs is such a bad idea. A team like the Jets would likely sneak in at 8-8 (or even 7-9???), and that would just defeat the whole purpose of the play offs to me.

Play offs are special - please, keep them that way.

Can the patriots officially forfeit their games against the Jets this year just to ensure the Jets get in the playoffs ?

The Jets train is way to entertaining to have it derail now
All Aboard ...Last one off has to coach the team.

The Steelers and Bengals can't both lose out because they play each other.

Agreed, I root for them to win every Sunday but this particular week/year, I'm not crushed that we're missing the playoffs- the current state of the team is a disaster and changes need to be made- nearly all Jet fans agree on that although we all have very different ideas on how to fix the team.

    Not only that, James.

But can you imagine if that format was already instituted this season?

We would still be subjected to Mark Sanchez longer than normal and even worse.....What happens if the Jets did eke into the Playoffs?

Thankfully, that won't be an issue this year.
