One thing is for sure...if Polian becomes the Jets GM, he would have total control. Or else he wouldn't take the job.
Right now...I'll sign up for anyone Woody would concede control...without interference, to operate the Jets. It would mean one vision for this team...and one blueprint to move forward with. To carry it out to secure the Lombardi Trophy. No more Favre-Tebow impulse acquisitions, that detour from the plan.
Polian would then be the one to decide if he wants to work with Rex or not. If he does...then I'm sure he would do everything he can, to help him succeed. Especially making sure Rex had an offense that could truly complement his defense. If not Rex...he'll choose someone on the same page with his vision.
Polian is a respected GM among the NFL community. It will be easier to attract quality OC and QB candidates. Because they'll know it's Polian running the Jets. Not "idiots" running an asylum.
Polian would restore order to the Jets universe.
Now...will Woody seek Polian out...and would Polian accept?
Chance are...Woody goes with Scott Cohen...who won't have total control
But seriously, it's not a bad plan. Except for Polian. I don't think I would mind Vick as long as we draft a QB to go along with him and McElroy. Just can't overpay for Vick. And besides, Vick will play a couple games probably get hurt, then the rookie steps in to take over.
Why not Polian?
Everything else +++1
Let's face it. Vick will give us something good and spark us for the short term, or get hurt leaving the door open for the rookie to develop.
