Besides defense what is Rex Ryan good at as HC

Seriously? It seems so many people want to give him another chance. Let's recap

    1-Can't evaluate players.

2-Loyal to a fault. Completely unwilling to make tough choices on players, as mentioned in the Trevow Pryce article.

    3-Can't evaluate coaches.

4-Lost his locker room, maybe even again this year.

5-Players mouth off to the press.

6-Coaches mouth off to the press.

    7-Footgate

    8-Fingergate

    9-Terrible in press conferences

10-Continuously embarrasses and pressures his team with outlandish predictions and claims..

11-Not very good at game management.

12-Team continuously has personnel mistakes on both sides of the ball (12 men on the field over and over and over)

Feel free to keep adding, I'm sure there's more. I just do not get the support from people saying he should stay here. I get he's a defensive guru but that's not even so valuable anymore given the shift in the league, favoring offense which coincidentally Rex knows nothing about. The guy deserves to go just as much as Tanny and Sanchez.

Most NFL HC's specialize in one area. Very few coaches are masters of both sides of the ball. Oh and it's the multi-million doller Front Office job to evaluate players. Was he too loyal too Suckchez? Yeah but considering Woody wanted Tebow as the alternative can't blame him.

Let's say we fire Rex who's this great replacement who's going to take us even further than Rex did? Cowher ain't coming here. Gruden's going to the Eagles or NCAA.

Does he even coach defense exceptionally well?

He is quick to pat himself on the back with stats but it just seems like the JETS defense has come up small in big situations.

Coples? Maybin? Kyle Wilon? Kendrick Ellis? How much better has he made these players?

Coples is going to be a very good player and already looks good. Rex got Maybin to look like a semi-decent pass rusher for half a season.

    Besides:

Pouha - was nothing under Mangini and Herm, Rex made him one of the best NTs in the league

Revis - was a very good CB under Mangini but became all-pro under Rex

Wilkerson - should make pro bowl this year

Stop making sense. Reading this thread you would think the Rich Kotite years were back, 3-13 & 1-15.

    It's hysterical reading this stuff.

Revis made the probowl inhis 2nd year under mangini, so he continued to get better, and that is because of Rex? I think that is more of a normal progression.

Pouha was solid in 2007 and 2008, he is no better now than he was then.

Wilkenson was a 1st rd pick and is playing like one.

Yes, you are right. Things are just great for the JETS and Rex has been a great HC , never an embarrassment. He also doesnt treat the fans like fools by lying to them and continues to act with class. His performance as a HC the past two seasons also doe not resemble Kotite........

When you make a list, shouldn't you at least list actual issues? Repeating the same issues more than one time or making up issues as in losing the locker room this year doesn't make your case.

Please, never let the facts get in the way of a crazy list.

Agree with all of this. Cromartie has stepped up his game this season but I think that's more due to opportunity with Revis down.

The Jets are 20th in points allowed per game, 19th in interceptions, 27th in sacks. How can those numbers be considered elite ? All those rankings are average to below average in the league. That's Rex as a defensive genius ?

Rex is a field general, true to his team and his word, people fight for him and yes, some take advantage but compare your boss to Rex, who would you rather work for? you know Rex would have your back and would do anything he could to help you succeed - the rest is on you; Smith, Maybin, Sanchez...

Beat the Pats at home after getting destroyed by that same team a few weeks before... all Rex

People like Trevor Pryce have respect for the man, there is a reason, so let's give him some credit
