    Is It Me?

Is it me or has Mangold regressed? Between all the low snaps the last two weeks, I have watched him miss blocks, which have turned into sacks. Don't get me wrong, he is still a great center and I love having him on the team, but it just something worth noting imo.

Yeah, he's definitely not been as solid this year. Also, he'll never be a true leader type, like Mawae was. Mangold's always been a "don't look at me, it's not my problem" kind of guy.

I still think he's a top player at his position and I'm glad we have him, but facts are facts.

agreed and he seems to be a bit slower. Too much pressure seems to come up the middle these days.

Outside of Wilkerson and Cromartie. This whole team has regressed.

He's playing about 25 pounds too heavy. Mangold has never been a great athlete nor has he ever been a brawler; he's a superior tactician that makes use of unconventional techniques that require leverage, hand and foot placement. That said, as he gets older he could stand to lose some weight to overcome the effects of playing in the trenches.

    JW is right.

His decline started last year when he started the season way overweight. He lost some weight this year but not enough. Just go back and look at pics of him from 2008-2010. He was leaner and very fundamentally sound. Also didn't hurt playing between Faneca and Moore in his prime.

The new blocking scheme might have something to do with it too.

    Hmmmm. I've read that somewhere.
