OK, guess you can take a short break then. Be sure to clock out for it though. And you'd better be back in 20 mins.

San Diego waiting at least a year too long to fire those two. Really should have stuck with Marty Schottenheimer, maybe even made him both the GM and HC

    From NFL.com

Assistant coaches for the New York Jets believe they are "in limbo" until the Jets hire a new general manager.

A team source who was in a meeting held by coach Rex Ryan on Monday shared that the staff is expected to take the week off and return next Monday. That could be the target date for a GM hire.

It's still unclear to Jets coaches if Ryan will have a say in who is hired as GM. But as one coach relayed, if you aren't under contract, you should be looking for a job.

If Rex can't fire any of his staff yet, then why would he have any control over who the GM is?

The Jets reached out to ESPN analyst and former Colts president Bill Polian before hiring their general-manager search firm, but were turned down by Polian regarding any interest in replacing Mike Tannenbaum.Unless they pry New York native Tom Gamble away from the 49ers, the Jets are going to have a difficult time selling themselves to noteworthy GM candidates. They would prefer to not let the new GM hire his own coach, and have a documented history of dysfunction up top. It's unclear how serious the talks between Polian and the Jets ever got. He likely denied them quickly. Dec 31 - 3:26 PM
