    That's good to see.
I would think the gang at Korn already had a file on GM candidates that they constantly update. This is why they get the big bucks. Do people honestly think they sit around picking their noses until they gat a call about filling a position? When you call, they are not starting from scratch, they've already done much of the work.

Woody should just cut JI a check for 200K and let us run with this.

Norv was the guy who originally had Smith playing above his head.

Then Norv left, and Smith went back to his old sucky self until Harbaugh arrived.

Even if he does in fact bring in Alex Smith, being a new GM, he isn't going to bank his success rate on a QB he knows is very limited. That said, if the 2009 jets had the 2011 Alex Smith we would have won the SB.

The last time a "ground and pound" team won the Super Bowl was 12 years ago.

Neither the 49ers, the Ravens are Redskins will win the SuperBowl this year.

And last year one team was a muff'd punt and the other was a dropped pass from both being in the Super Bowl.

Would this guy be so sought after if Harbaugh was not his head coach?

Yes. TheNiners roster was steadily improving before he got there. Harbaugh just actually utilized the talents and got results.

Considering Gamble has been with SF for 7 years and is oen of the top 2-3 decision makers there, he probably had input in selecting Harbough as coach...

So hes got that going for him.....

Sounds like a really good candidate. As far as him choosing the Jets, they can get whoever they want, as long as they give full control and a fat check.

And yet they simply could not get there. If they had more dynamic offenses they would have.

Ground and pound plays close games where missed kicks and dropped passes define your fate. The margin for error with ground and pound is much smaller - as seen with your examples last season.

How is Smith like Sanchez? 18 interceptions to 5 (with same # of TDs)? 5 lost fumbles to 0? How many games do we swing with just that fewer number of turnovers?

Not sure who people want to play QB next year. Brees and Rodgers aren't available.

Fans are expecting some type of miracle. If can find anybody to assure Sanchez wont be the starting QB in our cap situation would be a win.

Alex smith would be a huge upgrade.

Ground and pound isn't the problem. Having bad QBs is.

Smith simply couldn't get it done against the Giants' D. He left a lot of yards on the field during the NFCCG. Flacco has never been a great postseason QB. He played well against the Pats, but they shouldve been up big in that game and wasn't.

Heck, the Jets couldve had a dynamic offense even with ground and pound if Sanchez wasn't so horrible.
