He does not have to comment on the GM search, that is above his pay grade, he says that and everyone understands.

He had no trouble pounding his chest before and saying that this was the best team, and he was the best def coach etc. etc. If decisions have not yet been made on him or his staff that is all he needs to say. Is Landry a priority FA?
How do you feel about the strength and weaknesses of this team. Would you target FA or the Draft different positions.

His silence just gives the impression of someone who likes to take public credit but no public criticism.

We have no idea what is being discussed. My guess is Rex wants to quit but doesn't want to lose all his money. Woody wants him to quit.

They're probably working through a cancellation of contract as we speak.

    probably not

fortunately they will do what is good for the Jets without worrying about what SOJFs think, feel or do

Sounds very possible, which would also explain why Pettine wouldn't sign an extension

Why would Pettine be offered an extension if Rex was gonna be canned? No new HC, would retain him!

From what I've read, the extension was offered early in the season, not recently.

Pettine publicly released the information that he turned it down in Week 17 as a dog whistle to the other 31 teams that he is going to be available. Teams firing their coaching staff know this around Week 15. Same for the Rex Ryan "leak" about "wanting out". It's all posturing to get a job lined up in case you don't want the one you currently have. Aggressive owners start rebuilding their coaching staffs the moment the final gun sounds in Week 17. Pettine and Ryan wanted to be on short lists.

Probably , but more importantly Woody/ his Advisors are probably waiting for Buffalo to get there coach hired before making Rex avail. to them.

This article looks like it came from a member of Bleacher report.

And that's not a good thing.

The issues with Rex are multiple.

Maybe he is a remedial learner. Maybe we have a "special" coach.
Making jokes about special needs persons is lower than low. There are posters here at JI who have family members with such disabilities. They shouldn't have to read your smarmy attempts at humor at their expense.

An apology would be a good stsrt
