    Schneider to Devils per Rotoworld!

Cory Schneider traded to New Jersey Devils Cory Schneider has been traded to the New Jersey Devils for the ninth overall pick.
Wow. It looks like the Devils may have made themselves a great trade and now have their goalie of the future. He will likely split some time with Martin Brodeur this season and then take over in 2014-15. A great move by the Devils as Schneider is one of the top young goalies in the NHL.

Read the story. The combination of the 113-day lockout, which forced the coughing up of some sponsorship cash, and the team’s failure to make the playoffs blurred the financial picture. Barclays center has taken away non Sports events as well > 2:1 ratio.

Bottom line the area cannot support 3 hockey teams and 1 not named New York Rangers will ultimately go. I look for the devils to move to Quebec or elsewhere down the line. Signing a concussed complimentary player who can't score for $25m won't help the situation.

Lou has made some bizarre deals in the past. I've learned to trust him.

    +1

Don't love this signing on the surface, but I do like it better than re-signing Clarkson to likely more money than this. They are pretty equal players IMO.

Just saw that. The good news is that they don't have to pay that contract out. The bad news is that they were a 1 player team last year and that guy just left.

Don't think they have a 1st round pick next year either.

They might still get the cap hit. Very wierd all around. The contract length was suspect. Wonder if Lou would've gone harder after Zac if he knew. I'm guessing he did though.

Definitely sucks, he was far and away the team's best player. It is going to be a struggle next year watching this team try and score. We saw how that was without Kovy during the massive down slide last year.

If I'm Lou, I turn around and lock up Schneider long term with some of that freed up money. He is only under contract for 2 more seasons. I also look to try and move Elias for some younger pieces. I hate to say it, because he's one of my favorite Devils of all time, but this team is not a contender and he is in the ladder stages of his career. He will warrant some value. An extremely intelligent and creative player, with great puck handling and passing skills and the ability to score 25+ goals, especially in a good offense.

Retiring voids contract, they owe 250k for 10 years

I'd be the 1st one to tell you the Rangers are garbage, being a Jet fan doesn't help either, I won my one and only Cup and Super Bowl..wasn't rubbing it in that he retired just thought it was surprising

Brodeur is 11 years older. Why would you want to overhaul by losing a 30 year old star in his prime who is locked up for 10 years?
