At the end of the day...it's just a game

Its’ just a game…plain and simple. Our daily lives should not be directly affected by anything the Jets organization does, as if we are on the payroll. We are not currently on staff, wondering if a new GM is going to can us and we have to move our families. We are fans. Most of the posts in the last week have almost made the board unreadable and just as bad as some beat writers claims. Making claims as if they are facts, hoping for an epic fail so then the “I told you so” statements can put you up on a soapbox for all to see (read). It’s just a game. I am a fan, I have missed watching 3 games in the past 10 years (I did turn off 2 games this season). I have yelled at the TV, thrown remotes and wore the clothes from the previous week if they won thinking it will help the team. My family thinks I am crazy….I can’t imagine what the family members of the highly negative posters here think. It’s just a game. For those of you who bought season tickets and invested lots of money into the Jets…there are no written guarantee on them, it’s a gamble. If I may steal a quote from the movie Airplane “Shanna, they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash”. There are a lot of intelligent posters on this board, including the negative ones. There are also the posters who basically put no real thought into the post except to trash the Jets, just spewing the same ole drivel posts after posts, reply after reply. It’s just a game. Maybe if things are so bad for you regarding the Jets…step away from the board for a while and find something that is not so negative to focus on. It’s just a game. Just let the chips fall where they may and whether your prediction, speculation, opinion or guess was right or wrong…it’s just a game.

If it was 'just a game' 90% of the fans on this site would have bailed on the Jets years ago. You simply have to take the bad with the good when looking at long time fans of teams.

Fans are expected to show up, spend money on a team, be with them through thick and thin and in return they are entitled to over react, argue, get bent out of shape and froth at the mouth.

    Fan = short for Fanatic.

I get what you are saying but, with any game, it would be nice to win once and awhile.

It's also a game at the beginning of the day.

no doubt...I like everyone else was thinking "maybe this is our year" when back to back AFC champ games were being played. It is a "what have you done for me lately" sport and can't keep hanging on to what happened then...

I will stick by and wait it out....nothing else I do will change the outcome

More than a game for me. It's a way to escape from the daily bull****, so I put my emotions in this team.

I agree with your general sentiment.

There was a time when the team's successes and failures had a much bigger impact on my day to day emotions. I've learned to tone them down and simply enjoy the ride through both the good and bad.

people who think "its just a game" don't post on their favorite team's forums. They just don't care enough to.

Losers post things like this. You don't find the "it's just a game" bullsh*t coming from fans of successful teams.

We tend to forget that it is just a game albeit an important game to us fanatics.

I hear you...I watch and shake my head in disbelief like the rest of us. It's very frustrating to watch at times. I come to this board every day to get Jets news and insight from fans since I don't live in the east. It just comes down to we have no control of what is going to happen or why or when...so we have to ride it out.

I agree you don't find this from fans of successful teams....They don’t have all the conspiracy theories and speculation of what is going on inside the owners, GMs and coaches minds. They don’t have to. The only fact we do know is that we don’t know anything and don’t\can’t control the outcome. I am not on board with all of the decisions made within the org. I will not stop being a fan, I will continue to watch, good or bad.

I think it's just a game and I post here.

That doesn't imply that one has to be a casual fan and doesn't care. They just don't let a football game ruin their day/week/month/season.

Go tell it on the mountain, Mormon.

I don't need any damn perspective.

You're talking about salvation and in this green mire nothing can save us.

good point i guess. i let it ruin about 30 min of my day after a loss. after that its over.

however, when you started a thread "its just a game", it kinda implied "i don't care if the jets suck, i don't care what they do, my life goes on"

I'm more or less the same. Although I couldn't bring myself to watch the SB two weeks after we no-showed the first half in Pittsburgh.
