While we're on that subject, I've been looking at Tanny's/Rex's drafts.

I would say that they are about 60/40 positive.

    Good picks:
    Jeremy Kerley
    Joe McKnight (All-Pro last year)
    Muhammed Wilkerson
Quinton Coples (Still young, but criticisms were blown away)

    Average:
    Stephen Hill
    Bilai Powell
    Shonn Greene
    Matt Slauson
    Kyle Wilson

    Bad:
    Mark Sanchez
    Vlad Ducasse

The other picks are all either still in judgment or are relative to their draft position.

I will say this though. The one thing Rex has not drafted yet has been a player that makes an immediate impact. This might be his raft to do so.

The QB is really the only one that matters. That's wheat gets guys fired.

If Sanchez during his four years, played like Russell Wilson played this year, then we're in the playoffs all four years - probably go to the super bowl at least once.

Would it be safe to assume Gaine will also be in the mix for a second interview?

That's why even thought only 2 players are in the bad column, the drafts were 60/40 IMO. The QB takes up alot of that negative percentage.

However, I was always told that football is a team game.

    2) Makes comment about Tebow and how there is no way he is coming to JAX (interpretation: Shad, let it be known that I'm in charge here now)
    3) The million dollar perk in his Jet offer; since they never got to the contract stage, who do you think was the source for that info? Woody? Neil Glat? Jed Hughes?

IMO, Caldwell seems like a real douchebag, and his loose lips will eventually come back to bite him. Owners take notice of a story like Peter King's this morning... if you can't trust the guy your negotiating with to keep his mouth shut, how can you trust him to run your franchise? It ain't worth it. It's still a fraternity for the owners... they'll remember Caldwell's loose mouth.

Sometimes it's a good thing when negotiations don't work out. Glad it didn't with Caldwell... already have seen enough of him.
Perhaps that is what was meant by "strong personality" too? Imagine in a GM with such loose lips to go along with Rex's personality. This place would explode.

good point about the "team" concept.

But in Goodell's NFL, the league is divided by the have's and have not's. If you don't have a QB, you better be elite everywhere else. (Like we were in 2009.)

In 4 years of drafts we have 4 players you see as good. Give or take, that's about right. I would be Green and Wilson as borderline good.

THAT is the problem...... Total picks around 20 to 24 and we have 4 good picks.

Thats a big piece to why we are where we are....

Also, your last sentence is CMARTS point. No development of these players.

Except for Wilkerson. He has developed nicely. Kerley too.

I just mean that a lot of his picks have been average. The only two stinkers are Sanchez (which at the time, I still contend was the right pick, given the options), and Ducasse, which is more Tanny's pick because the affiliation with UMass.

Connor was not a bad pick. He was a 5th round pick.

McKnight belongs in the average category IMO.

All-Pro simply based on KR's. You don't draft a guy in the 4th just to return KO's.

He's failed miserably as the 3rd down back he was envisioned to be.

Our drafting is below average. that means 16 teams will have more talent.

    our record bears this out.

Devin Hester was drafted in the 2nd Round.

If you are name All-Pro in anything, even KR, that's a good pick.

Agreed...that's why we keep score and such.

    mediocrity hates record keeping.

Our record proves we are below average.

They (reporters) said Popp was on their radar too and that never went past a "talk". So who knows.

Devin Hester at his best was on another planet in the KR category. Not to mention he's been a weapon on offense during his career. Not only does he have 17 TD's on PR's and KR's, he has 14 career TD's on offense.

McKnight is not in the same league. Hester has been to 3 Pro Bowls and a 4 time All-Pro. I'd be willing to bet McKnight doesn't see a Pro Bowl or get another All-Pro.

McKnight was drafted to be a 3rd down back to replace Leon. I don't see how anyone can say he was a "good" draft pick. If you insist, then we are definitely not in agreement.

FYI: McCartney is a Former #NFL Pro Scouting Director.
Not only is he a former pro scouting director but he currently works as an agent. So he is much more likely to be speaking with possible candidates than any of these jerks in the media who tweet any bullcrap to try and get attention and keep relevant. And any candidate that would be so unprofessional as to leak such information, if it were true, would not be a candidate for anything for very long. This is obviously fabricated info on the part of Jay Glazer wanting to maintain his 'insider' status and borders or libel if you ask me.
