That is a nice hire for the Rams, I can see them taking a leap to a 10 win team next year. Boatload of pics, cap and good coaching.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that took more than 5 minutes.

@RossTuckerNFL: Rams hire Rob Ryan as DC for his football acumen or because his dad coached & hired Jeff Fisher? #meritocracy

Good for the Rams. They should contend for the playoffs next year.

What would be funny is if Rob handles OC's like his dad did when he is working with Schotty.

I fail to see where this big mouth is considered such a great DC.

Over five years (2004-08) in Oakland, Ryan's defenses ranked 29th in points allowed and 23rd in yards allowed. With Cleveland for two years (2009-10), the Browns ranked 32nd in yards and 15th in points. And over the last two years in Dallas, the Cowboys finished No. 16 in yards and No. 18 in points. The numbers get worse. In opposing passer rating, Ryan's defenses ranked in the bottom third of the NFL at all three stops. The same can be said for third-down percentage, yards per rush attempt and defensive EPA (ESPN's expected points added statistic ).

Ryan, for all his volume and chest-beating, has been nothing more than an average defensive coordinator over the last decade or so.

They are a couple of players away from being a playoff team. Very young team with a lot of talent.

This is a disaster in the making, Fish is gone
after this year or next, Shoddy isn't going
to get it done when it counts, but if gets
a line with all no. 1 picks, his offense
will doominate, and by that I mean keep
the Rams O good enough to keep him around
    for six torturous years.
