The thing that kills me about kerley is that so many of the fans here say the Jets (and tannenbaum) were terrible drafters, rip kerley as "a 3rd WR or smurf" and wish we were more like the steelers.

Well what is the difference between kerley and antonio brown? Brown is an inch taller, same mid round pick, and has one extra year in the league.

Kerley is an explosive player, who can do a LOT with the ball after the catch, very far from a "dump off WR". The difference between the 2 players is that brown has a top 10 QB throwing him the ball while we have someone who has never completed 60% of his passes and has no ability whatsoever to find open receivers down field or even buy time in the pocket for guys to get open.

Theres a lot to complain about on this team, mainly the QB but kerley is FAR from one of our problems.
    Excellent post

Who cares what a troll posts? Other then perhaps a clown who is obsessed with his own self importance might. You know, someone who begged the Jets to draft Leinart a few years back.

SOJF are whinos who think they know it all and complain about everything the Jets do, sometimes even before they do it.

It's quite a bit different, but you keep playing the overplayed card like a good SOJF fanboy

    LOL

You act as if our distaste for Sanchez is totally uncalled for.

We have every reason to slam Sanchez.

He's the most inaccurate, turnover prone, mentally weak starting QB currently in the NFL. But because he was our QB when we made a playoff run 3 years ago, we're supposed to just totally ignore his massive flaws?

    Christ

And you have the balls to call us clueless?

No, you would be wrong, and you're too blinded by your hate of Sanchez and anything that even remotely supports him as a player that you don't even bother reading

Sanchez deserves much of the criticism he receives for last year, but there is another side of it, there are other factors to consider.

Suggesting that he could rebound with the changes on the coaching staff is completely warranted, all you're doing is spinning this into me or anybody saying Sanchez has done no wrong, which is just stupid.

I've heard this crap about Sanchez "rebounding" over and over again over the past two years and guess what? He's done nothing but get progressively worse.

How many different OC's do we have to go through before we collectively admit that maybe, just maybe Sanchez is the root of the problem?

Sam Bradford sure as hell didn't look too shabby last year with Schotty calling the shots. And who the hell is even worth mentioning on that offense besides an old, beat up Stephen Jackson?

If you want to dupe yourself yet again into thinking that Sanchez is going to just magically turn it around, then suit yourself.

But quit acting like we're a bunch of "haters" or "SOJF" just because we don't share your overbearingly homeristic views.

    +1000
Thanks to Tanny re-doing Markís contract last year, Mark is stuck here for 2013 for no team out there, (IMO) would want such a work in progress.
Itdzik is probably gonna convert Markís salary into a signing bonus as was thoroughly explained by Jason @ NYJetscap.com. Itís the only viable option Itdzik has to give him more valuable cap room for 2013.

hereís some of what he wrote: Please note that this was written before Tanny got canned.

"Sanchez is set to earn the $8.75 million in cash compensation from the team this year. As a pro who will be entering his 5th NFL season the minimum salary to pay him is $715,000. What you do at that point is pay him the minimum salary for 2013 and convert the remaining $8.035 million into a signing bonus this upcoming March. His cap charge would immediately fall to $6,826,750 a savings of $6,026,250 which can be used to help the team in the present which is what is needed to save the jobs of everyone in charge of the sinking ship.

Of course that means you are going to have a high cap charge for releasing him in 2014- it would rise from $4,800,000 to $10,826,250- but the Jets are in far better cap shape in 2014 than they will be in 2013. In option 1 you are going to keep him on the team and give him a legit chance to compete for the job against a Matt Moore or Alex Smith. At the $6.8 million figure you could live with him as a backup if you absolutely had to keep him on the roster. In option 2 you are basically going to tell Sanchez that if he will not start the season (or he does not want to be here at all) that you will either release him or trade him to a team of his choosing prior to training camp or whenever he loses the camp battle.

At a guaranteed 715K, and because you prepaid the 500K workout bonus I would imagine not all of the 715K would be protected the way his current salary is, I think a team definitely would be more than willing to give a 6th or 7th round pick for him since the cost is so low. From the Jets perspective they would be more willing to make this deal after June 1 than prior to June 1. Why? The March renegotiation gives them cap room ASAP to make free agent moves. Under the normal trade scenario the Jets get no cap relief under any circumstance so a team has to absorb more money to make it worthwhile for New York. If its best to release him then they can release him, get him out of the room and deal with the cap pain in 2014. It wont hurt nearly as bad then and you are creating more balance in the cap hits than any scenario the team currently has. Is that ideal? Probably not, but at this point there are few alternatives left."

How could he rebound when he lost all of his weapons and they were replaced with dog sh-t? Anyone in any job would get progressively worse if the people working for him all quit, if his boss was unqualified for his own job, if years of frustration took its toll on his sense of self-worth.

Seriously. Pay attention. There is a reason Mark Sanchez sucks right now. He might be able to be saved. Maybe our new OC and QB coach and GM will get him the pieces needed to restore his confidence. Let's find out.

It didn't matter who the OC was , for the past four years this offense had an anchor tied around its waist and that anchor was not Sanchez it was Rex Ryan. You make this argument perfectly by stating how Shotty/Bradford looked decent in Stl this year, its funny how a Non G&P attack can do that for you. Is it possible that the problem was the offensive scheme , is that so hard to possibly comprehend.

Can Sanchez turn it around , who knows, but I feel any QB who's been saddled with the G&P for four years needs a progressive offense to at least fairly assess his talents. If he flames out , he's cut next year - no problem. But if he has a good to decent year that finger of blame needs to point at Mr defense.
