About 10 years ago a friend bought me Lyle Lovetts double album STEP INSIDE THIS HOUSE. It changed me. I started listening to more song writers, travelled to Nashville, learned about Townes Van Zandt etc... So for me, that's it. I recognize it's not a popular choice but when music can change your life, that's something.
Finally got around to watching the documentary about the making of it. Really cool insights into the conceptualization of the album. I also had no idea about how close The Who came to breaking up because of it.
Was my first thought, too. Followed closely by Tommy.
I assume you mean the studio album? Believe it or not, I actually prefer the soundtrack (though I certainly can do without Jack Nicholson singing Go To the Mirror). The studio album is great too, though.
