Walsh with the Eagles was a sell-out (on his part) travesty. It made him a millionaire many times over, but we James Gang/Walsh solo fans never got over the sting of Walsh's departure, as well as having to listen to him playing on the--mostly--"easy listening/Muzak" tunes which make up the majority of The Eagles catalog.

    I'll remember Walsh like this:

He did get paid in the end, I think Felder gave himself way too much credit for the success of the band, but def was a big influence on that success.

He created the riff for Hotel California and co-wrote Victim of Love. That was his contribution. Plus he didn't even come into the band until '74. They already had released 2 albums. I would have more sympathy if he was a founding member but he wasn't even that.

I did some work in a NYC CPA firm that handled bands and celebrities etc... interesting business.

They are simply corporations. They can fire anyone depending on stock ownership.

I imagine Felder wasn't a shareholder. I have no clue but would imagine walsh wasn't either.

According to the documentary, when they broke away from David Geffen, in the mid 70's they started their own company which gave them royalties on everything and made Frey and Henley top shareholders. So basically they could do whatever they wanted. Frey just did it in a more obnoxious way.

I am not a BIG BIG fan like others here but I get in these moods where I play nothing but Eagles for a day or two. On piano, I learned this a few years ago. One of my favorites... Henley, in my view, is similar to Paul McCartney in that his talent is broad and the band is so influenced by his talent. IMO, moreso than others.

You'll get Felder's spin in his book, he basically claims he brought the "rock" sound to the Eagles. Felder does have a lot of respect for Henley's voice and lyrics.

Don't get me wrong. I love Felder. Awesome guitarist. I wish he was still a member. I do though like TBS over Meisner (even though he looks like an elderly native american woman, lol).

Pretty funy part when Henley is living with Jackson Browne, and he is coming up with "Doctor my Eyes" and he keeps playing it over and over. Madening for henley, but ultimatley taught him a bit about songwriting. And for Browne nont giving up on it, as it became a big hit for him.

once had a neighbor in an apartment above me who played Henley's Dirty Laundry every hour. The intro to that song is still maddening to me.

The music playing in the background as sexual implements are hewn by semi-craftsmen.

I've been searching for the daughter
    Of the devil himself
I've been searching for an angel in white
    I've been waiting for a woman who's a little
    Of both
And I can feel her but she's nowhere
    In sight
