Thread: Garrard Works Out For Jets Today

  1. #21
I feel as if the Jets are not going after a franchise QB.

I suspect it's a stopgap measure until at least next year when the Jets can get rid of Sanchez and draft someone in a QB strong draft.

Guarrard stinks. Between him and Quinn we may have found two QB's that are actually worse than Sanchez.

What's the point of wasting money on a sh!t QB? Seriously, I'd rather ride with McElroy and it's pretty well documented how I feel about him. We have NO cap room to waste on a guy just to have him here riding the bench. Mark Sanchez is starting next year because he's the best option we have on the roster and because he makes way too much money.

Garrard and Quinn are going to do better than Mark Sanchez? No. If they do, what are they gonna win? Maybe 1 more game? At least we won't have the horrible turnover stats... YAY!

This team needs two things on offense, Chance Warmack at #9 and Montee Ball or a comparable legitimate starting RB with all the tools. Both can be had in the draft and for a decent price. Seriously, what's the point of bringing in a broken down or a never has been at QB? There's no chance in hell that the Jets win the Super Bowl with either crappy QB and all they are doing is taking up a roster spot from a good player with actual potential. There's just no cap room for that this year.

Af least Garrard has played - and generally played well - as a starting QB in the NFL.

That alone makes him better than the Brady Quinn option.

If Garrard signs, and is anything like the pre-injury Garrard, then he instantly becomes the best QB on the roster.

    Bingo!

It's the Indianapolis Colts plan all over again. Short term pain for long term gain.

Who else is out there other than Bridgewater, Manziel has the makings of Tebow II especiallly in hype. And wasn't everyone saying this year would be a good QB class with Barkley, Glennon, Smith, Nassib etc.. Things change from year to year and I certainly don't see any RGIII of Luck in next years draft.

You've obviously never seen Manziel play.

Yes, I have and it won't translate to the NFL. Too small to be an effective running QB and that limits everything else about him.

Next year's QB class is way better than 2013.

If we're going to try this year, we're not going to try next year. Try next year.

We're in a holding pattern and are being held hostage by Sanchez at this time.

Garrad career ints to attempts ratio: one every 42.2 attempts.
Quinn career ints to attempts ratio: one every 32.4 attempts.
Sanchez career ints to attempts ration: one every 27.1 attempts.

This is why a guy, even a stiff like Garrard could be much better than the incumbent.

You truly are an intelligent jets fan. A 1-15 season in 2013 is the plan. And this same exact time next year, we will all be going apesh!t over the fact that we are going to get the #1 qb in the draft class.

    Idzik is brilliant!

Haha, ok. I think he's bigger than Russell Wilson though.

I think at 6-1 coming out of highschool he's probably grown an inch. Even if he hasn't he's still 2 inches taller than Russell Wilson, faster than Russell Wilson, and throws the ball better than Russell Wilson. He literally can't be defended. The reason he runs all over people is because they have to respect his arm....and also because he might be the best damn athlete in college and can just run past people at will.

3700 yards, 26 TDs, 9 INTs, 68% Completions.... as a redshirt freshman.... yeah, he's not just a "running QB".

Garrard will be hurt by week 3. His body is a wreck. idzik knows this. Looking at Garrard is just creating the illusuion to blind fans that Idzik cares about 2013. Smart Jet fans know exactly what he is doing and love it. 2014 #1 pick here we come.

His career numbers (last couple years comparable to the career averages)

    61.6 comp %
    7.02 avg per completion
    Ballpark 3000-3500 yds per season
Give or take 20 tds and 20 turnovers per year
    QB rating 85.8%

Better than Tebow, nothing to get too excited about though

David Garrard is the best choice by far for the jets and i have been saying this since he got cleared to play in November. While he went on IR last summer he beat out both Moore and Tannihill for the starting job in TC last year. He is not that old and is younger than Brady.

He even makes more sense if the jets take a kid in the 2nd this year. This is the kind of guy that can be a mentor to a young player. you can read 2o articles about him and not one bad word, the guy is a pro.

I am totally surprised at the negativity towards this guy. He just want to play and is not going to cost you as much as Moore (and again who he beat out) Will cost you 1/5th of what Flynn wants and with out the draft pick compensation. Fine I understand some of you want Flynn but do you want to cut 4 mill more of players to get him over Garrard? And I you don't draft a kid this year and you do next he sticks around so the kid can be eased in.

He's 34. Hasn't played in 2 years. Is often injured. Was cut by Miami of all people. And had one OK season at QB in the NFL.

Yeah, he's the best option for the Jets.... if you're a Pasts* fan.

Garrad also has a better ratio then both Mannings and Drew Bree's..
Also has around the same amount of TD's as Chaddy cakes..(Passing and running)

Garrard may be small potatoes when talking about the future, but he is the first quarterback they have brought in since Sanchez was drafted that can actually provide competition at the position.
