Keller is part of the problem. Bringing him back is not moving this thing forward.

keller at this point is a jag. no phase of his game puts him in a top 10 list at his position.

    3yr/$11m with $3m SB and years 1 & 2 guaranteed:

    13':$1.5m
    14: $2.5m
    15':$4m

Does that get it done? Would you do that?

The only way I can envision that deal not being good enough is if the money there would be the reason why the Jets can't extend Revis or some other downstream effect.

For argument's sake, let's agree that Keller is a JAG. Then that would mean the Jets have had less than JAGs at the position since Mickey Shuler hung it up. If $11 mil is what it costs to put a competent player on the field, then that's the market. I definitely don't want to see a much-cheaper Cumberland producing much-cheaper results on the field.

Before we throw Keller to the wolves, people should realize that Matthew Mulligan was a starter last year. Grass ain't always greener. Plus, in the above deal, Keller is cuttable after two seasons with a $4 mil savings.

Exactly! So you're saying he goes to NE, Balt, SF, Dever, GB, Saints?

but if we are going into a different direction and will bring in a TE alongside cumberland then I am cool with letting Keller go.

Keller is nothing to write home about but since there's nothing better out there that the Jets could go after, I wouldn't be against re-signing him just as long as it's not of the "overpaying" kind.

Around $2.5M a year average seems about right to me. Much more than that, I would let him go. He is a good receiver, but he's not elite or an all-round TE.
You know what makes me laugh is I said we can resign him for that 4 months ago and people said I was low balling. Right now 2.5-3 mil actually seems high. lol

    1) Yes, that's a better offer than Keller is going to get on the free market.

    2) No. Keller can be had at a 1 or 2 year deal. No need for the third year.
