    Media Officially Hates the Jets

Anyone watch the Bill Parcells Free Agency Special today on ESPN? If you did you'd notice the big graphic saying the Jets were $25 million over the cap and then a little addendum afterwards "as of February 15".

Today is March 10. Why would ESPN put up a graphic stating our cap situation from a month ago?

Because it was probably taped back on Feb 15th or close thereof. ESPN and any other TV program is all about getting ratings, and they get more ratings when they show something about the Jets b/c of the heavy media attention paid to in NY.

I don't think it was I remember the sportscaster that was hosting it trying to mention that the Jets did cut the likes of Scott and Pace to get $10 mil below. I was at the gym working out and could barely hear it. Why would ESPN tape a new program a month before the actual news? That would be inept journalism even by their low standards.

I think The Jets were really accommodating to the media back when Rex took over. Since then they pulled back the reigns, and this is how they react.

Because they are the same douchers who employ quality journalists like J Coachman, Stephen A Smith, and Skip Bayless.

Fat dumb and lazy is no way to run a network when Fox, CBS and NBC are ll expanding their cable and radio properties.

The 'media' is very lazy. They don't do any work, just repeat what has already been said over and over after it was said once by someone else. They have no accountability and no one to call them out. Just look at the Manti Te'o incident as the perfect example. Not one reporter bothered to look into this girlfriend's story let alone if she even existed, they just kept repeating it over and over after the first source 'reported' it. Everyone that repeated that story should be fired for negligence but of course it won't happen. This is the reality when finding a story on the internet is now considered a 'source'.

    This is spot on.

Has Manish and Myers been correct about any of their scoops from their unnamed sources? That's not a rhetorical question. Have they?

I'm ignoring all media reports from the trolls - Cimini, Manish, and Myers - until something actually happens that's real news.

ESPN does not exist, in any way shape or form, to inform viewers. Their mandate is to grow their audience numbers and sell ad time for their Disney overlords.

They'll fret over someone's hair or making sure that one of the panelist says something retarded enough to get attention. But accuracy in details? That's probably pretty low on their list.

People stop watching if they get bored. Barely anyone stops watching if they are getting misinformed. Those of us who would (me) don't watch in the first place unless there's a goddamn game on.

Great point. The entire time during that scandal I couldn't help but think how stupid and lazy these reporters are that they were duped for soooo long about Teo having a fake, dead girlfriend.

Unfortunately ESPN will always survive because of brand name recognition. That and the fact that it's marketed perfect to the Justin Bieber/Kim Kardashian generation of Young American nitwits.

The media loves the jets, for the last 4 years they been helping them fill space or time. Revis is even having his rehab the subject of a mini-doc.

You are comparing the beat journalists that cover the Jets and are complete hacks to the company Revis hired to document his recovery?

That and the red carpet treatment given to ESPN during training camp last year. It is a two way street. Hopefully some of the access will lessen with Idzik in charge.

No, I am talking about the Andrea Kramer pieces on the NFL channel. Do you think each local media rather deal with the jets or the Pats, I gurantee you it is the jets.

The topic was about a national piece, regarding parcells and Polian, not nothing to do with the local coverage.

It's not official. People misuse the word official all the time. Like (in our opinion) Subaru is the official car of NY. Opinions, and official have no correlation. Like when someone specializes in general repairs.

You have to have it in writing to be official, and there should be some type of ceremony. I'm not putting it past ESPN to hold this ceremony mind you. May be announced sometime next month. Maybe before the draft.
