2011-blew up lockerroom, didn't talk to Sanchez for an extended period of time (like over the course of 6 games)

    2012-major injury, unfriendly contract

    Questions?

Suppose we can all thank Tone' for Pouha's release today.
Tone is a jerk, but I think Pouha would have been released anyway. Its not like we just cut a young healthy player.

so you're holding it against him that he got injured playing a game, under the contract that the former GM gave him?

also, there were no locker room blowouts this season, which leads me to think that 2011 was all plaxico's doing.

If all that can be attributed to him is the outburst 2 years ago, that is enough to hate him. His overrall demeanor is pathetic and its safe to assume the Steelers traded him away for reasons other than performance on the field.

good point...we hear more about holmes from fellow fans than the jets....i hear you bro but it would have been cool if he could restructure to aid the team...yeah I know its a buisness but he the man is far from broke.

Dead money is money charged against the cap even though the player is no longer on the team.

He will be $11.25M against the cap to keep him, $10M to get rid of him. Of course, the Jets still have to give another WR some money, so the savings is a wash at best. However, this would mean the Jets save $2.5M next season, as that is what it will cost to cut him next year if he is still on the team.

Yes. I'm holding out on a north of thirty malcontent coming off a major injury who's contract makes it all the more easy to cut him today.

Load up the dead money THIS year, if the Jets know that keeping Holmes beyond this season is not going to happen, just cut him now and absorb the money this year.

His contract is an albatross around the team's neck. And it is that contract which is the big impediment right now, not the fact that he was named captain two years ago.

How is this a serious question...numerous articles with direct quotes from him throwing people under the bus.

is Sanchez going to restructure? IMO his extension and contract is more of an issue for this team then Holmes. whats the word on all the other guys we've heard the board clamoring for restructuring? Brick, Sanch, Harris, Mangold? lets face it, clearly Tanny messed this team up beyond repair.
