Jets setting themselves up to draft Clowney

2-3 wins next year. Thats what it seems like. Getting ugly. No Sunday ticket for me this year. Not worth the money....

If you switch to Geico you can save 15% or more on your car insurance. That plus the $300 you'll save on the Sunday Ticket is good money in your pocket.

I'm assuming your finances is what you wanted to discuss, since there isn't another relevant discussion point in your post.

Without a qb, the jets can draft whomever you want and still suck.
They will be like Buffalo with Mario Williams. One guy on defensive won't get it done. See Houston JJ Watt....

    It's a Qb driven league.

Stupid. No team will tank a whole season trying to bank on one college player

You could win with quality, but not great, QB play if you have...

    1) a VERY good o-line
    2) a VERY good defense

    Ravens proved that point.

    We should be drafting O-line....

No. We should be drafting QBs until we find one worth keeping.

OL is fine for now and you can build that once the QB is in place.

It is so much more important to get the QB.

And I don't know what you're talking about. Flacco was lights out in the playoffs (11 TD, 0 INT) and he's the main reason why they won the SB.

The Ravens D was not nearly as good this year as it traditionally has been and their OL is nothing special. Flacco and Boldin and Smith carried that team.

This era's Ravens didn't get over the hump untill their QB started to play great in the playoffs.

    Kinda totally disproves your point.

I appreciate the warm and fuzzy replies. Our defensive backfield is gone.
We have a sub par QB, are sparse on the DL and have no RBs.
What are your expectations for the upcoming season?

i don't know...kind of hard to say 3 days into FA, prior to draft and prior to June 1 cap casualties...i think its fair to have this convo when the roster is set.

    Probably 3-6 wins.

Plenty of teams could do worse than that though.

    We just don't know yet.

Playing well in the playoffs and being a great QB are two very different things. I wouldn't go as far as saying he played great either. He was very good, but the defense shut down the Pats and the O-Line gave him time to be effective.

I watched all of those playoffs games and don't remember him "Taking-Over" a game. Never really saw his carry his team. He made plays when he had to for sure - I'm not discounting how important a QB is, but finding a stud isn't easy. We should take the prudent route and build a solid o-line, which will make us competitive with any reasonable QB.

I'm not saying we don't need an effective QB, we certainly don't have one on our roster right now...but you could win without a top QB

I have no idea what you are talking about, Flacco owned the playoffs.

We have had this argument so much on this board...just look at the past 15 or so SB winners...overwhemingly very good to great QB's at the helm. Sure you don't need a good QB to win, but you better be absolutely unstopable at every other area...something that is almost impossible to do in this era.

I actually think we're closer in agreement than it's coming out to be. Just a matter of what you consider great.

Brady, Breese, Rodgers, P. Manning...Those are the guys I consider special, carry your team regardless of talent type guys. Where as the Eli and Flaco's (Big Ben is somewhere in the middle) of the world are solid but inconsistent QB's that are helped by very good defenses and quality o-line play. These guys got hot at the right time.

Don't think we will get clowney, he will go 1 or 2. Hopefully we can get bridgewater.. I don't want to "tank next season" but I'm a little tired of accepting 10-6 season with a couple of playoff wins every few years.. Putting a competitive team on the field next year doesn't help this team in the long run.. Signing average guys like devito or whoever is not going to help us win.. Get head start in getting under cap and Go after guys in Fa next yr who will make difference.. And take that good draft pick and hopefully draft a franchise qb.. I'm sure colt fans love the fact colts tanked 2012 so they can have luck the next 12 -15. years
