Only 3 of those guys started the entire year.

    Some barely played.

A few were awful when they did play.

Are they supposed to keep those awful players so we can say "the Jets retained X number of starters?"

They're rebuilding. Out with the crap, in the with the inexperience.

Idzik is responsible for this team, right now. He should be judged going forward on the team he inherited and what he did from that point.

Your 45 years is a sob story and is part of the SOJF mentality that plagues this fan base.

pardon my typo, Smith was a back up but still the 3rd safety, ok? Doesn't change the fact 9 Dee starters r gone.

Cromartie and Wilson will be back. Don't know why you ignored them.

Agreed. He's got 2 years to get some players in here and fix our financial state. It takes time, no way it happens overnight. Idzik has been a part of building some good teams, I'm hoping something rubbed off from his past.

    Returning starters on defense:

    Wilkerson
    Ellis
    Coples
    Harris
    Cromartie
    Wilson

Probable starters who were taking over towards the end of the year:

    Allen
    Davis

The situation isn't as dire as reported.

Do you seriously think the Jets can replace 8 starters and have a good defense?

Jets defense will be horrible next year.

    And the trolling continues

Big signing?! Isn't that what has gotten us in this mess. This might be the worst thread of the offseason.

There are a lot of good safeties out there this year. No worries there. A few good OLBs too. Idzik is being smart, and letting these teams overpay for the big names. Once the demand dries up we'll be able to get some good players cheap. Everything else is already taken care of. We just need some depth, and some impact players in the draft.
The QB is the problem. That'll probably have to wait till next year. Take the damn 2014 1st round pick Idzik. Get them to throw in a 3 this year and were golden.

A second tier LB is visiting TODAY. You're not even paying attention are you?

Lets see how long Welker will last with Denver. In there case they are 2 or 3 pieces away from a possible Championship. In the Jets case they need multiple players and big signings are just pointless. They now have plenty of money to sign all there draft picks and they can even afford to take some hits from a Revis or Sanchez casualty and still sign some quality players as the market cools down. I like what Idzik and the new regime have done so far.
me to exactly what i would have posted if i wasn't sleeping when this was posted.............post of the year so far...........

Not disputing anything..But I keep seeing people mention this and it's no different than what the Jets have done the past 4-5 yrs...

Bart was the last "big" UFA signing unless I'm forgetting someone..

Obviously, Holmes, Cro etc were all resigned...

And all the reports that the Jets are in cap hell? The moves Idzik has made so far are all Cap Mgmnt 101 and Tanny would have done them too...They have $15M+ available now and Orr reported last night he's hearing the Jets aren't done with restructures..Jason said Mangold will most likely be restructured today by 4PM..

IIRC, the Jets are projected to have $30M in available cap room in '14?

So it's not like they can't resign the Landry's / Keller's they are just choosing not too. You have to think (not resigning Keller) was part of Tanny's plan since they never talked about extending him last season, which as history showed they did with Harris, Mangold, D'Brick..
