Thread: I am starting to despise Idzik already

  1. #21
I joked about his fumbling previously..
But this guy is actually a nice WCO fullback fitÖ more athletic than Connor.
In 2009 for the Dolphins, he had 20 catches. I donít know too many FBís who could step in next year and be better fits to be honest.

Oh you mean like Indianapolis did last year! How many rookies and first year players did they have starting and they made the playoffs! Never give up!

    Jets re-sign fullback Lex Hilliard

The Jets have re-signed fullback Lex Hilliard on a 1-year contract, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed. The person requested anonymity because the Jets have not made the move official.

The news was first reported by Pro Football Talk.

Hilliard came to the team as a replacement for the injured John Conner in October and finished the season with eight carries for 31 yards. Hilliard was also a strong presence on special teams

I hope you r right, that would be great. Most people here seem to think I am in favor or over-paying old guys. Not true. But Rex F"ING Hilliard? Just would like to hear one bit of good news soon.

I would rather not stock up on high-cost free agents that may or may not help us this year (chances are, they won't), clean house, get our financial s*** together, stockpile draft picks and low-cost free agents, and start rebuilding this thing.

Idzik is just what this team needs. Resist the instant gratification thing.

You probably wanted us to overpay Steven Jackson, James Harrison and Charles Woodson with the pennies worth of cap room we have right?

Only children and dimwits react like this when they are not served with instant gratification.

    What a joke.

    You need to understand something.

    1. The Jets are going nowhere this year even if they didn't make all the changes. So this is going to be a lost year REGARDLESS of what happens.

    This is reality. Accept it.

He makes a very good point.

The Jets defense has lost 8 starters.

Do you seriously think the Jets can replace 8 starters and have a good defense?

Jets defense will be horrible next year.

Devito is a hit to be sure but really TX, which of the others do you really think is anything other than addition by subtraction?

    It's called rebuilding.

That's the unfortunate byproduct of the QB being godawful. If the QB had been good, there wouldn't be a need for such a dramatic overturn of the roster or the changes would not be as impactful because a good QB can cover up for it.

Tanny and Sanchez ruined the franchise. Now Idzik has to clean up the mess

    Actually, this is speculation.

    THIS is reality:

The Jets were 6-10 last year, and came into the off-season with a horrible salary cap situation. Free agency period is what 48 hours old? Teams with bad cap situations don't make big splashes. Teams with robust needs don't make big splashes

Our new GM needs to 1.) get the team under the cap, without stringing the team out in the future, which he is doing so far, and 2.) because we were not a good football team, has to let some players walk, while creating avenues to re-load the roster with the resources (cap space, draft picks) he has available to him.

That is the reality of the situation.

If you think about it... The only teams that made reasonable big moves in the 48 hours of free agency so far have been contenders. The 49ers, the Seahawks, the Colts, and a couple other teams have made moves that make sense for the state of those teams.

Teams like the Dolphins are making a big splash because they want a new stadium. They threw gobs of money at Mike Wallace a 1-dimensional player and Ellerbe, a guy who has one partial decent year under his belt. The Jets made big splash moves like this when they wanted a new stadium, and it brought us to this point.

    Then that helps the rebuilding.

As such, he doesn't have even a good point because he completely misses the purpose of these transactions.
