Um.... because the annual league meetings are next week - 17th-20th - where all the GMs are in a room and usually a few moves follow.. Jets are hoping to unload him then.. if not, he'll be released.

Why haven't they released him? It's because the guy is a winner. He just wins! He wiiiiiiiiiins!

Guy can play. Guy can just ball, man. He's a football player. The guy can just play football. Good football player.

This video sums it up well.

Simply a no cost option to keep Tebow on the team through the draft and maybe into camp, the cap charge is the same, no risk, some possible benefits in negotiations with other QB's, maybe they get a 6th round pick...

The Jets best hope is to hang on and see if any team wants him on their team so they can sell some tickets. He can definitely do that.

Will be gone soon, it doesn't matter that he is on the roster as of today

The truth is you couldn't get a 7th rounder for ANY QB or RB on the Jets roster.

The Conclave of Cardinals should have stayed an extra few hours to decide what to do with Tim Tebow.

    +1

    The Jets know that.

The whole "we're just trying to to get value in return" thing is window-dressing nonsense cover story. Tebow is Woody's Republican Knight in Shining Armor. He is here to stay not getting any offers from teams will end up being their excuse for having him on the team next season.

    Nobody wants Tebow.

Not the team that drafted him, not his hometown team that could probably make money off him, not any of the teams that needed a QB like Kansas City. Nobody even wants Tebow as a backup I mean Matt Friggin Cassell who is putrid and even worse than Tim Tebow needed all of 5 minutes to get a backup gig in Minnesota.

Everyone saw this organization humiliate itself last season and shoot itself in the foot bringing this circus to town. Nobody wants that media scrutiny for a player who isn't even good. Worst part is Idzik and Woody know this but Woody loves Tebow and we are stuck with this clown for at least one more year.

Woody needs to buy some small island in the Pacific somewhere and make his two favorite duds Romney and Tebow in charge. Romney can be the president and Tebow can be the local team's star quarterback. Finally Woody Johnson will be happy and maybe he willl let the grownups in the Jets' FO make the decisions for a f*cking change.

Jets want to use him draft day as 'trade down' bait.

"What will it take for us to get your #9 pick?"

Idzik: "your #20, 2nd round pick and you take Tebow"
