Yeah but you sort of have to respect what Idzik is doing. No rash moves...

I never would have guessed this signing, I don't see this guy as a ZBS at all.

A mauler, more of the type that Callahan would have brought in. but at that price, i would thing good value as a hold the fort guy while some young kids develop.

He's a Guard. Not a Tackle. You wouldn't want Colon to be near a Tight End.

He can play RT but I agree that he is a much better guard than tackle. Either way he brings some versatility and is a mauler in the run game. Just hope he can stay healthy.

    great low-risk, high-reward move.

If he works out, a solid starting OG for a relatively modest salary and just what this team needs right now.

If not, oh well. No big deal.

I really like this move because now they're not going to be forced to draft a guard early.

Exactly, build a solid OLine first.

    Build a team inside out.

Tanny would have signed 5 over-the-hill, make a splash FA's, to ridiculous back-loaded contracts by now.

Just have to laugh at the last 5 years where 95% of Jets fans said Tanny was the greatest capologist in the NFL.

    How's that working out today?

To be fair, there's a difference between finding a way to pay for the players you want and actually wanting the right players . . .

Approx $15M+ in cap room with basic Cap Mgmnt 101 moves. The Jets haven't signed a "big splash FA" since Bart Scott but people seem to have short memories. Also jets reportedly scheduled to have $30M+ is available cap space in '14 IIRC.

Bell, Landry,Schillens were all 1yr deals.

Not knocking Idzik but everyone is in the "new guy" is great mode.

    STFU and GFY
Tanny didn't sign any splashy free agents on the Oline. He actually did build one and when that was in place moved on to the playmakers

    Exactly.

The Jets cap situation is not nearly as bad as many people think. A dozen teams go through this crap every year. It's the NFL.

The biggest problem of all is Sanchez. It was a bad deal. But they bet on him stepping up this year. He didn't.

Not one player who has left is irreplaceable. The only one I really wish they held on to is Landry. They couldn't match that big offer given the current state. They probably would have matched it if this wasn't a rebuilding year.

Considering our CAP space etc... He is doing a fair job. NO high praise but no major mistakes yet.

I am into the new guy because he appears to be a new improved Tanny. Tanny was good until he allowed Rex to run him out of a Job.

Haven't said he has. But he isn't doing anything that different than what the Jets have been doing recently the 1st week in of FA.

The Jets aren't in cap hell like what the media reported. The cap moves made were basic moves. Nothing earth shattering

Yep. The Tebow trade last March was a disaster and like I've said Tanny should be fired for that alone.

I've said that in the past too. Tanny changed who he was/how he did things when Rex came aboard. That's not Rex's fault that's Tannys.

Nice pick-up. Colon replaces Moore, and Slauson can still be brought back.

    Ferguson, Colon, Mangold, Slauson, Howard.

    Ducasse, Schlauderaff

Somehow I think Slauson is not coming back, and we're getting a new LG. Kevin Boothe is being looked at as I read in another thread...or another veteran.

I just get the feeling the team isn't very high on Slauson.
