    Jets Sign Antonio Garay

@cc660: Antonio Garay signed with jets. New nose tackle.

    Craig Carton does have connections.

Nothing on Garay's twitter. Although I love that his blurb is the "Taken" speech

He's been on Boomer and Carton many times. A NJ kid IIRC.

If it turns out bogus we can dump it and flood Cartons twitter.

Love the fact that the NY media knew nothing of this, or Colon's signings

Granted we'll suck next year, but I like the way Idzik is handling his bid-ness

    From Wikipedia...

    Professional career
    Chicago Bears

Garay spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears and was a member of the 2006 NFC Championship team. In a December 2007 game against the Washington Redskins, Garay was injured by an illegal block. He was placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the 2007 season. On March 8, 2008, the Chicago Bears announced that they would part ways with the defensive tackle, and he became an unrestricted free agent on February 29, 2008.
    New York Jets

On October 20, 2009, the New York Jets announced that they had signed Garay to their practice squad.
    San Diego Chargers

Garay was signed off of the New York Jets practice squad on December 9, 2009, by the San Diego Chargers. He was re-signed to a two-year deal on March 6, 2010. Garay was able to earn the starting job at nose tackle for the bulk of the 2010 season, and he finished 2010 with 48 tackles and 5.5 sacks, leading all San Diego defensive linemen in both categories.

Pretty Sweet. I used to play hoops with his brother Cisco. Nice to see Rahway represented on the NYJ.

There's lots of time unaccounted for in Wikipedia.

It's from 2011 but he was one of the better pass rushing NTs.

    Schefter confirms.

He is quite a character, has a Hello-Kitty-themed-Smart-car, was a wrestling All American, bounced around a bunch, is known for outragous hair styles but a good guy from everything you read...

Solid veteran player who can help the rotation out I guess...

What is encouraging is that of the 3 FA's we have signed so far today, 2 of them were completely out of left field, and not even mentioned by the media. Idzik flying under the radar.

@PFF: Antonio Garay extremely productive pass rusher. Different type of player to what Jets have had on interior. Durability concerns though.
