Would like to see Rex stay but somebody's got to answer for Sonny (I mean Sanchez)
Lovie was a horrid coach that was given everything he wanted. The new FO is going to make some good changes and get rid of the head cases Lovie brought in. Lets be honest here not one person really believed the Bears where winning a SB with Cutler and Marshall.

If Rex goes 8-8 with this pile of junk as a team he should get coach of the year.
Don't see 8 wins though. It depends on how much input he has had in getting the players he has. If a lot, he should be gone. I the GMs have been that dominant, he gets a pass at 6-7 wins.

Many are assuming it will be Izdik call to make I'd say the chance of that is 50-50.. Woody loves Rex but will cut him loose if he thinks by keeping will somehow lose him $$$. I think if izdik had told woody he plans to cut loose Rex next yr he wouldn't have been hired. It's all going to fall on Marty.. We have had two terrible OCs, with Rex we need a solid OC.. We know Rex will do outstanding with whatever he has to work with on D, if Marty does a good job with what he has to work with on O, I don't see why a change would be in order.. Rex has great respect from his players, that's the most important thing for a HC.. Andy Reid may be a good HC, but his players no longer play hard for him so he had to go..

Isn't MM infamous for winning the toss and then deciding to let the other team receive the Kick in OT when he was with DET?

8-8 season and atleast splitting every body in our division will save rex his job. Which I don't mind if he keeps the job just as long as our offense becomes a decent nfl offense in this rebuilding year.

Yes... It's like the buttfumble equivalent for coaches

Exactly. And MM was chosen by the same brain trust who thought Tony Sparano was the answer to the offensive issues of 2011.

Yeah and Sporano was recommended by the same coach that recommended Belicheck. Nobody is right all the time, but MM has averaged 10th in points scored in 11 years as an OC. Sporano was never really an OC and no one knew how bad he would be at it.

Tom Brady was picked by the same brain trust that picked Chad Jackson, Bethel Johnson, Ron Brace, Darius Butler, Terrence Wheatley and Adrian Klemm.

What the hell does MM in Detroit have to do with his prowess and credentials as an OC/QB coach?

Sparano was also a Parcells influenced hire, so what is your point?

Belichick is still trying to hire a coach that can actually put a top 20 defense on the field for the Patriots.

It depends on how hard this team is and how competitive they are....this talk about Rex job being on the line is not true....I see NO basis for that being true....if that was the case Idzik who has NO loyalty to Rex would have fired him when he came on board. Rex is a damn good coach who will focus on the defense while MM focuses on the O. Jets will be competitive and Rex will be here for awhile....and I am glad.

+5 as in the 5 year extension he truly deserves and will get this season. Terrific Head Coaches like Rex are scarce and need to.be kept.

Anyone who puts a number on it is stupid.. Geno can be a total bust, will be izdik fault.. but cant judge by 1 yr.. Sanchez we know is, MT's fault he is here this yr.. If geno does well with Marty's system we finally have a real OC.. Marty runs O, Nobody better than Rex to run the D, plus he commands players respect.. As long as he had that he should stay.. Woody isn't going to let izdik fire Rex over 1 game off their target.. I'd give Rex 1 yr extension, give Rex/Marty combo 2 years before we tear it all down and start over

I'd bet he gets an extension before the start of the season.

He's a good coach, proved it by winning when he had decent talent and no QB. You don't lose site of the drop in talent these last 2 seasons. Why Woody fired Tanny and kept Rex.
