    Ipad tablet advice

Using the old Tax refund to buy a tool that will help me with work... Email, Internet search, photo taking and storage... No games, very little Kindle.. NO kids allowed on whatever I buy.

Thinking about an I pad2 - Retna Vision or what ever they call it.... Made the huge mistake of visiting an Apple store not realizing that it was spring break and every kid in Edison was in here playing games... Could not get help so I'll wait a week...

What about memory? If it's just the above is 16 okay for $499.00 Next question should I buy a $20 a month wireless plan? I have a 4G hotspot on my company phone -- won't that do the same thing?

Help...... By the way I forgot to mention checking Jets Insider and Porn as well.... Thanks.

very happy with ipad 2 , it may benefit you to pay the difference for 32 gb for doubling your capacity . if you will be mostly in a hotspot area u can save the monthly costs and get the wifi only model.

I think you will disappointed with the photo quality on any tablet you buy.

Can't go wrong with the iPad Retina. The display is gorgeous. The app store is robust. But if you were to consider an alternative, the only tablet I would recommend is the Nexus 10. The screen is just as good as the Retina and it is superior IMO for watching movies in case you ever got into streaming videos on Netfix, Hulu, HBO Go, etc. Only drawback is there is no data plan available. It is strictly WiFi but it think it will connect to your hotspot.

Spend your money on memory. Get the 64 gig or even the 128 if it is available. I wouldn't bother with the plan. I have it and only use the wifi anyway. Almost every place that you are going to us the iPad has wifi.

Don't buy an ipad or android tablet for work. Neither is a substitute for a laptop. Typing anything of length on them sucks. Even just typing this post is so much more of a chore thanusing a real kkeyboard. DO buy a tablet for media consumption. Either is so much more user friendly than a laptop for streaming video, web surfing etc. Reading JI while sitting on the toilet in the morning is nothing you'd ever do with a laptop. Yet is easy with a tablet.

I have a laptop, and older android tablet. And the new ipad. The laptop is used exclusively for work. The tablets each have their own strengths. The retina display is awesome. The open source of the android os blows the closed IOS away. I hate having to use itunes to transfer everything, much preferring the ability to drag files directly into my android directly from my computer. My android plays any video file you can throw at it. I usually have convert files before i can play them on the Apple. Apps for android are much cheaper, too..

Which ever you choose, go for as much memory as you can as others have said. You'll never regret it. I have 4g on the ipad but I usually have wifi available. For the Android, i just tether to my phone. If it's for mostly personal use for media consumption, get a tablet. If it's mostly for work. Get a laptop.

Thanks for all the help... Yaz to answer you I do have a laptop that I lug around only on the one day I'm in the office... I know that when it comes to MS Office programs I'll still be on this..

The tablet was more for presentation purposes as I'm on the road in sales and want to make an easy and professional presentation of my product line and show display options to my accounts.. I can't always lug in 200 lbs of samples to every stop.

I will also check out the Samsung mentioned... You guys are great and answered my questions. Thanks...

Will you be using the tablet screen for visual presentions? If so, Apple's retina display can't be beat. If you plan on feeding the video signal out to a projector or larger monitor, go with the android, as Apple's screen is curiously still not a widescreen. Why they chose a 4:3 screen configuration over 16:9 is a mystery.

    My thought exactly!

I have an iPad Mini that I bought for school. I have almost all my documents loaded as PDFs that I view using Notability, which allows me to add notes via a stylus or keyboard. I have the keyboard cover from Logitech for it, not bad in a pinch, but I wouldn't want to type more than a page or two on it.

A Crapbook? None of the features or utility of a laptop, nor any of the fun and ease of use of a tablet.

    Pass.
