Exactly. Revis can't be the #1 CB if he's sitting at home watching on TV ... must be tough having to think you might "only" make $10 - $12m a year.

This was a terrific blogpost. Exactly what I was thinking is happening, but it's good to have the numbers to back it up.

Jets should keep Revis. A 2014 1st and 2nd is not enough if the market's depressed and they can lock him up for around 10M a season.

Well you used very few words to prove that you have very limited thoughts. Who should I listen to, some guy who makes idiotic posts on JI or a former poster on JI who now has a website that gets referenced on si.com and other major sports news outlets.... hard decision right there.

Revis will never be happy no matter how much money we pay him. He will always look for more. Football is a team game ,especially on defense

That would be great but what happens a year after he signs the contract he all of a sudden decides he isnt happy.

Jets have to consider everything. He is a special player but there are significant hurdles.

How are you going to lock him up? He's going to be a FA. Why would he pick the Jets? If he has to go all the way to 2014 to get his money, then the last place he would want to be is here. He holds out every time he has a contract, why wouldn't he "hold out" as a FA until someone decides to pay him? He has plenty of money. It's not about the money, it's about his ego. He might sit out a whole year just not to seem like he's been beaten. He's not going to play for less than he wants. Even if he does it wouldn't be for the Jets. What makes you think that some other team won't offer him more anyway?
