What kind of player is Barnes?

You guys think he will be an effective piece?

Mostly a situational type passrusher given his compact size. But with the Titans of NY upfront - Wilks, Coples n Ellis doing th heavy lifting he'll be doing sum damage.
Remember this dude once had 12 sacks a season IIRC, recently n that ws without guys like the above in front of him.
Now if u put sum1 like JJones on th other side, how on earth will teams stop all our dudes from molesting th qb?

    Oh yeah.

I want Jarvis at 9 as well!

It gets even better if the Jets retain Revis, because of the coverage sacks that ensue from the way our cb's can blanket receivers. With th way the FA is playing out it seems more likely that Jets cn retaing Revis without breakng th bank.
Now if only the Jets can sign Hollywood Rhodes or an affordable S that can cover TE's adequately, this D becomes very, very dangerous n hazardous 2 qbs' health.

They will run the ball at both of them.

He'll serve a purpose in generating a pass rush but he is not the every down olb we need. He is a role player but can play a big role if used properly.

Barnes could play the WLB, but you cant really pair him with a guy like Jarvis Jones on the other side on first and second downs.

Mcyntire played well when bt went out snd we needed to younger than pace. I think if we get jordan, ansah or mingo we will be doing pretty well.

I hope so. Glad we're getting younger though and letting these guys get a chance to play full time.

Defense just has way too many holes before the Draft.

You're right. But with the way things are going in the NFL I think we would want teams to run the ball. Get some good LBs and Safeties that can tackle and we should be OK.

I have concerns about the stopping the run as well. I don't think Barnes will be any worse out there than Pace or Thomas at this point though. He's smaller and less fundamentally sound technique-wise than those guys, but he's also younger and faster. Feels like a push at worst.

But I really wouldn't be surprised at this point if the Jets spent two picks in the middle rounds on run-stopping OLBs, rather than go for a homerun pass-rusher in the 1st.

    Situational Passrusher

Basically, what we hoped Maybin would be.

He can be a beast off the edge at times but he gets blown up in the running game.

    I doubt he starts
