Thread: why not vince young

    why not vince young

he would be available on the super cheap and has a winning record and more talent then sanchez and is not old as he is under 30

why not bring him in to compete for the job

    what is the down side?

some might question his mindset but it cant be any worse then sanchez who after last years performances does not even deserve to be rostered and if cut would have as much appeal as tebow would to other teams looking for a starter-which is zero appeal

We have a stopgap in Garrard, who is a better passer and more mentally stable than VY. VY is a headcase, worse than Sanchez, and regardless of his "winning" record is not the answer, temporary or long term, in terms of helping the New York Jets.

Super cheap isn't always the answer either.

Enough of these silly requests to sign disgruntled and unstable re-treads because they're "cheap". It would only make the team take another step back, at best.

He couldn't take the pressure from fans in Nashville.

    Imagine him here?

things aren't bad enough with Teblow and the Tiajuana Turnover Machine....let's go all in on crappy quarterbacks with Vince Young and why not Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Lindley, Curtis Painter and Browning Nagle too

This guy would be committed to the puzzle factory within 4 months of playing in NY with the media, the pressure and fans.

Because he has proven that he's not a starting caliber QB in the NFL.

his record would indicate otherwise-he has better skills then sanchez

so u bring him in and let him compete if he cant beat out sanchez or other washed up guy you cut him-move does not cost you a thing

I am in favor of bringing in anybody to compete against sanchez-there is no downside of doing this-

how would it make the team take a step back if he beats out the other guys to earn the job?

super cheap is the answer with the jets under the cap mess they are in-the answer we know for sure is NOT SANCHEZ

There is plenty of downside. The Jets are a media circus. Young is and has been part of a media circus outside of New York.

The Jets have brought in Garrard to compete against Sanchez. They will most likely draft another QB. If they don't draft a QB this year, then they will next year. It is inevitable.

We cannot fool ourselves in believing that this upcoming season is going to be one that the Jets make a playoff run. If it happens, great, but in all probability it's an evaluation year to build on subsequent seasons. Bringing in a QB to make a push or a run isn't the answer right now. Use our money (that we're almost out of) to wisely fill the roster, draft, and move on from there.

Sounds like we (fans) are shooting in the dark for a quality QB. There are none available. Wait until the draft, and that's not even promising.

No, the answer for many is "not Sanchez" right now. I don't completely disagree, but it seems like every FA QB should be signed (for cheap ) in order to beat out Sanchez. Is not Garrard good enough to beat Sanchez?

I don't want to commit any time to Vince Young after 2013, should he be on the roster. Him winning the job gives him an open door for an extension of any sorts, should he even want to be here in the first place.

Get through 2013, and move on. Jets may even draft a QB, but in terms of 2013, finding a quality QB isn't happening. If it does, it's by accident.

There are only so many snaps to go round in training camp ... the more guys you bring in to "compete", the less valid the competition becomes.

Coaches only have so much time to spend time with the players too. Better to concentrate that time on the likely starter rather than spreading it across numerous maybes.

With raiders having both qbs( M Flynn and T Pryor) with three games of starting experience in the Nfl (combine) . Vince Young who impressed Raiders in a workout is just probably waiting for Raiders to clear cap space to sign him. He will come in and compete with T Pryor for the back up job.

The experts said that about JIM PLUNKETT and he became a Raider and the rest is history. Look it up. History has a way of repeating itself.
