Explosions near Waco, TX at Fertilizer Plant

    Yup...more BREAKING NEWS.

    Published: 17 April 2013 08:28 PM

A large explosion rocked the town of West, Texas, 19 miles north of Waco, on Wednesday evening.

A source said that a large swatch of the small town has been leveled.

According to initial reports, the blast was at the West Fertilizer plant at 1471 Jerry Mashek Drive, about a half-mile east of Interstate 35.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed there were multiple injuries.

At least 10 structures are on fire in the town, including including West Middle School, 406 W. Shook St., and a dispatcher calling for multiple ambulances said “we do have a lot of injured here.”

A dispatcher said the buildings on fire were near the 1300 block of North Reagan Street. Earlier, a dispatcher said people were trapped in a nearby apartment building.
Not sure if it's an accident but important to note that in just two days, on April 19th, it will be the 20 year anniversary of the Federal siege and fire in Waco, TX.

A Fertilizer Plant Just Exploded Near Waco, Texas

    9:50 PM ET

Several homes are on fire, and residents of a nearby retirement home are trapped inside after an explosion at a fertilizer plant exploded in West, Texas, a small town near Waco. The cause of the explosion and extent of the damage is unclear, but the local Department of Public Safety says that several people are severely injured. The explosion could be felt as far away as Dallas, which is nearly 100 miles away. Witnesses nearby reported seeing a massive fireball rise from the site of the plant. It's all pretty scary for those nearby. "It shook our windows and doors," said one nearby resident. "We immediately ran outside looking for the worst."

Really wild coincidences. At any other time each of these stories would be a major, multi-day / news cycle breaking news story in its own right. Now we've got the marathon bombings, the ricin mailed to politicians, and a Waco explosion in the same week.

Man, anyone listening to Anderson Cooper reporting on CNN? This is sounding like a really huge explosion.....nearby nursing home collapsed and people trapped, hospital told to "expect hundreds of potential patients" and someone saying that their house which is 5 miles away from the plant had its front door blown in by the explosion.

This story is crazy. That plant was essentially a giant fertilizer bomb.

Unbelievable. CNN now saying that the explosion, fire and smoke we're seeing on TV is unconfirmed! Anderson also saying that CNN sources cannot confirm that Anderson exists. What a weird day!
