Young'uns released their second song. Doing shows in dive bars around Long Island, talking about "going back to the studio to finish our EP."

I'm like, "uh, how about going back upstairs and finishing your homework."

Musically, very much a King's X feel. The only problem for me is the vocal. I have never been able to tolerate that style of "singing". No offense, just my personal taste.

Yeah, the screaming I don't really get. Actually, it's not really screaming. It's more like monster voice. Coming out of a 110-lb. kid, it seems out of place. But apparently the chicks dig it.

The "Death Growl" (no joke) is a legitimate vocal style found in certain types of metal. It's been around for a while, but an old fogey like me has trouble listening to it.

Music is a solid genre 7.

Vocals are a decent genre 5 (cookie monster portions a weak 3).

Band name is a horrific abortion of a genre 2.

Not too shabby, but seriously needs a new band name.

Needs more WCO on lead guitar IMO.

Came expecting total crap, left happily suprised and impressed.

Yeah, I rag on them about the band name. "RUINS" is sorta cool, but the forced acronym is silly. My son couldn't care less about the band name or the "I'm deep, man" crapola...he just wants to beat the sh:t out of the drums and score girls.

Nice assessment. Personally, I'm not at all a fan of this genre.

Would have figured you for more of a prog-rock guy.

That's alllll the resume I need. He has a bright bright future nodding his head (as if), as the lead guitarist talks about deep and mysteriousszzzzzzzzz

Holy crap that is excellent! Reminds me of my favorite East Coast hardcore, Helmet. I can't say enough about these lads. 5 stars all the way to the post-party.

    I can help chaperone...

I hear STP in the second one. Such polished chops in the studio; hell of a maiden effort.

That's kinda creepy, even coming from me. At least my Victorious thread featured girls all over 18

Actually, not bad at all. You can tell they're hardcore because of the growl. And the band name.

I read about once in a book... then put it back on the shelf at Barnes & Noble.

    pretty good, actually.

has a SOAD vibe to to it (especially the first song) which i like a lot.

tell your son that the Death Growl problem can be easily fixed by pissing in the vocalist's drink.
