I am ok with the return for Revis. The no guaranteed money on the contract with Tampa is just a way to show that we got a top 15 pick for a player that may be cut in 2 years. If he bounces back, then he'll be making huge money anyway.

It also shows me that Idzik was probably only getting a 1st rounder from 1 team, Tampa Bay, and he got it, plus another pick next year.

You guys are complaining but 30 other NFL GMs didn't think he was worth more than a 1st and a 4th next year if they did they would of grabbed him

He wouldn't get a deal at all otherwise and Jets couldn't get a better deal for him because of it...
But then we should have signed him!

and/or 30 other gms didn't want to potentially pay him 96 million dollars. it's twofold.

What were the chances Revis was going to be a Jet after this season? Especially considering this is what he wanted (see Shefter info) Sure beats a '15 3rd Comp pick, at best.

@AdamSchefter: Darrelle signed six-year, $96 million deal with Bucs. This year he will make $16 million. Makes $16 million each year. Ripped up old deal.

Bucs conditional 4th-rd pick in 2014 becomes 3rd-rd pick if Darrelle Revis is on Tampa roster on 3rd day of 2014 league year, Jets announce.

The unintelligent jet homers who cant come to grips that we are in a complete rebuild will bash this move.

Intelligent jet fans who understand the direction our franchise is going will realize this is a great move under the circumstances.

Looking forward to thursday night with 2 of the top 13 picks.

Of course that is factored in. If he was cheap every team would want him including us. It is what it is and I am perfectly fine with a top 15 pick for him considering he only had one year left, coming off a major injury and him routinely being all about te money

So we either got a 1st and 3rd for a 16 million a year corner, or we got a 1st and 4th for a 1 year rental. I'd say any way you slice it, that's a good win for Idzik.

That’s crazy money for a CB, JMO.
So Revis is now like water under the bridge and it’s time to move on and re-build.
Let’s hope Idzik knows how to pick talent.

Then it's basically guaranteed that we get their 3rd rounder next year.

How is this a bad deal?

A Top 15 pick as well as a 3rd rounder in 2014 for a CB coming off ACL surgery who was going to walk after this year anyway.

Again, why are people pissed about this?

blame this on MT. letting Revis sign that deal with no franchise clause was beyond stupid.. We wouldn't have been cornered to trade him now..

So if his knee doesn't respond or gets hurt again and TB cuts him the Jets get a 4th. Otherwise Jets get a 3rd.

Isn't that the same sh!t they got played by on the Vilma deal? So they cut him and resign him the next day (with a nice signing bonus ) and we don't get the higher pick.

    I'm liking this less ...
