I honestly don't know what the hell it is that you Revis worshippers don't get about this very simple, easy to grasp concept.

Just follow me for a second...

    YOU. DON'T. PAY. A CB. LIKE A...FRANCHISE...QUARRRRTERBACK.

    Savvy?

This team fielded the 6th ranked overall defense, #2 ranked pass defense, and was the only team in professional football to not surrender 100 yards to a receiver...without Darrelle Revis.

Yet we should pay him like he's Tom f*cking Brady?

Please, tell me on what planet that makes a shred of sense? Especially on a team with a myriad of holes to fill?

Please, I'm waiting on a better explanation than "But...but...he's our best player since Namath!"

    Whoopty sh*t

    That isn't saying very much.

Under Tannenbaum's watch, this team wilted to his every demand.

I for one, am pretty damn refreshed that Idzik and Woody have taken the approach of "Oh, you wanna be paid like a franchise QB, do ya? Ehhhhhh, go f*ck yourself".

    Excellent post as usual UT

Really sad to see Revis go. And shame he couldn't be a Jet for life but the continual 'will he,won't he' that will forever surround him just got tiresome.

He's the Bucs 'problem' now and good luck to them.I'll be amazed if he's still a Buc in 3 years...tops.

it's not like we didn't get great years out of him either.I highly doubt he repeats his 2009 season anywhere and while he was already a top CB before Rex Ryan arrived,it was only then he became truly dominant. It will be interesting to see is if he remains as dominant in a different defence, post injury.

People are acting like there'll never be another great cornerback available in the draft.Just this year there are some terrific prospects like Jamar Taylor and DJ Hayden who might never be 'Revis great' but can still turn into dominant,top-level defenders in their own right.Hell this move couldn't make more sense based on the fact we have last years starting corners returning including 1 pro bowler and that's the No 2 ranked pass defence that doesn't even have a dominant pass rusher!!It's not like we are starting Lito Sheppard and Vance Joseph back there. We don't even NEED to go out and draft a corner. We can if the right guy is there, but we are not desperate.

All in all sad but inevitable and hopefully,in very quick time, the right move at the right time.

I loved the Revis years and he was fun to watch and it was great to have a superstar consensus best at his position player to admire but there'll be another guy along soon who'll make us forget about Darrelle like we forgot about John Abraham.

I don't wish ill on him and am grateful for the highlights he gave but nothing would be sweeter than seeing him languish in a cap-strapped non-contender for a season or two while we gradually improve and contend again.A Stephen Hill/Tavon Austin/Keenan Allen burning week one would be especially sweet.

    Good post, Bad example.

We haven't had a good pass rusher since we let Abraham go

The reason we were 6th was because of Landry and Bell who we refused to pay. But don't worry Woody you have our PSL $

No true but we did get an All-Pro top 3 centre
