Thread: Revis/Sanders

    Revis/Sanders

Anyone who actually tries to put Revis and Deion Sanders in the same sentence are completely clueless...Revis couldn't hold a candle to Sanders...Deion made interceptions and could take them to the house at will...Revis doesn't have, and never will have that kind of impact on a game...Sanders put fear into opposing offenses because of that game changing scoring ability...any comparisons between the 2 of them are ridiculous...

Speaking fairly, Revis is a better "cover" corner. He is more physical and blankets a receiver better than Sanders did. Revis plays the receiver 100%. Sanders played the QB and the receiver. This gave him more interception chances, because he was more willing to take an eye off the receiver and watch the QB and anticipate the throw more. Plus he was obviously worlds more capable once the ball was in his hands. But Revis strictly takes the receiver away from the QB because he blankets the guy completely, making it far less likely for a QB to even consider throwing that way. Sanders deliberately let receivers "look" open to the QB, enticing the throw.

Sanders played in an era when you could basically maul receivers. I would say revis pretty much can and does hold a candle to sanders, without question.

Until Revis releases a song as good as "Must be the Money" he'll be in his shadow for sure

Stop downplaying revis talent now that he is gone. Who gives a rats ass anymore. Revis will go down as the best pure cover corner, sanders was the best play making corner...

110% agree. While it should be in our rear view mirror, revis is an exceptional tackler for the position, while sanders hated contact more then Cro.

Revis is a better corner, the difference is he is too valuable to return kicks, if he did, im sure he would have a few TDs.

This site never ceases to amaze me. I always have to remind myself it in no way represents the Jet fan base as a whole.

You guys should just forget this. We have moved on. You don't build a championship team around a $16 million CB in the salary cap age. Come on!

    Revis/Sanders

They now have another thing on common. The teams that drafted them let them go. Because CBs ain't worth it.

Right. Especially when you to fill 5 other positions at minimum.

The receivers Revis shuts down are better than the ones SAnders had to deal with not to mention he tackles like a linbacker. He was probably the best tacker on the team come to think of it.

Hell Yeah. What an ignorant thread. Revis was a much more complete corner eg he actually tackles and plays under vastly different rules which favour WR's. What game are you watching son?

You'd think posters were alive and conscious enough to watch the Raiders and Eagles pretty much sink their franchises and salary cap by paying a cornerback (the same cornerback) Manning/Flacco/Brees money.

Now it's the Bucs turn.....at least their owner has ManU to fall back on when this acquisition blows up in his face

glad to see Jet fans showing class and defending Revis here in a weak argument.. Sanders was a great cb, but he is no Revis. Sanders was all flash, went for the INTs.. But he had more backup over the top than Revis ever did.. As many already pointed out, Revis was much better cover, and tackler.. Sanders was great return man, and the better baseball player that's all..

    stupid f ucking thread.

Revis is the best player the NFL has seen in years. So dominant. He literally shuts down half the field.

stop downplaying the player he is. Big loss.

Revis does things Sanders never did. What goes unnoticed is the fact that Revis plays the run, and can cover bigger receivers like TEs, effectively.

Sanders was terrible vs the run, and didn't cover TEs like Revis can.

BUT, Sanders was able to change the game with one play, kickoff return, interception return, etc. He was a great cover corner, and was every bit of his nickname - Prime Time, just like Revis is "Revis Island".

Both are great, they're just different.
