Don't fall asleep on the Saints

    Saints pick at 15
    2 spots behind the Jets
Jets want Ivory but don't want to GIVE UP A PICK for him
Jets move back basically 2 picks
Saints give Jets Ivory & a 4th for a player they covet
Jets still get Eifert or Jones
dream scenario & not out of the realm of possibility

You realize you're assigning Chris Ivory the value of a 6th round pick, right? (13 = 1,150 on the chart, 15 = 1050, 109 = 76 - leaves 24 points of value for Ivory, the equivalent of the 8th or 9th pick of the 6th round).

If the Saints valued Ivory that lightly, they'd happily take the Jets' 5th round offer.

More, the Saints, who have no second rounder (bountygate) need to add picks, not trade them away.

Nice effort to think out of the box, but it makes no sense

Also I'm not sure who the Saints would want to jump Carolina for. Vaccaro? Richardson? Mingo if the Jets aren't high on him? Just doesn't make sense.

WHen did the jets offer a 5th for Ivory? The uncorroborated rumor was that the Jets offered a 6th and Saints want no less than a 4th. Someone on JI speculated they would settle at a 5th, but that was mere speculation. I wish we would stick to the facts and refer to unsubstantiated rumors as just that... unsubstantiated.

It is a buyer's market for teams that want to move up, so the value chart may not be relevant here.

If the Jets like Ivory and think the player they want will be available at 15, they may just swap 13 for 15 and Ivory, perhaps with a lower pick (like a 7th this year or a 5th next year.

I hope the Saints want Mingo, and we do this and take Jarvis Jones.

    Jones + Ivory >>>>> Mingo.

Saints couldn't block & couldn't stop the run.
If a big boy like star or Lance Johnson slip, they would trade us Ivory.
Maybe not a 4th this year but a 4 next year?
    Keep acquiring picks
Be nice to have 2-3s & 2-4s next year PLUS all the comp picks.

    Agreed
    Maybe a 4 next year?
Saints with Brees are alway in a win now mode, he's not getting any younger either.

The local paper reported the Jets were 'expected' to offer a 5th

The NFL Network's Albert Breer said on Twitter on Sunday that the New York Jets had offered the New Orleans Saints a sixth-round draft pick for tailback Chris Ivory, but that there was "buzz" they might improve that offer to a fifth-round pick after the Darrelle Revis trade. Later Sunday, ESPN's John Clayton also said on Twitter that the Jets "will try to use a No. 5 to get Chris Ivory."
But now the GM is trying to drum up interest from other teams, obviously in the hope of getting a better offer (from the jets)

Saints GM Mickey Loomis admits Chris Ivory is on the trade block, but says no deal is imminent.
Loomis specifically admitted to talking with the Jets, but also said he's had discussions with other teams. If Loomis can create a market for his long-underutilized No. 4 back, a fifth-round pick may no longer be enough for the Jets to get a deal done. There's a strong chance Ivory is dealt before or during the draft. Apr 23 - 4:37 PM
