Thread: Draft Eve Rumors and Info.

  1. #21
    1. Want J Jones at 9, dominated in the SEC against many top OL's

    2. If no trade down at 13 than best OG, Eifert or Austin

Would make my Thursday night to see this

  2. #22
If the draft shapes up as below, I could find myself pleased I think.

    #1/#9: Best Available Guard
#1/#13: An offensive Weapon, Best Available TE or WR
    #2: Pass Rush Linebacker
#3: Flier on an E.Manual at Devlopmental QB (he will nto play in 2013)
    #4: Safety
    #5: Outside Linebacker
    #6: Cornerback
    #7: Cornerback/Safety

    VACARRO @ 9!!!
People seem to be cooling off on Vacarro for some reason. Not sure why, he has all the skills to be a very good FS. Watch the Texas/ WVU game, guy covers Austin man to man and does a good job.

#9 is probably a bit too high for him,but 13 may be too late.
Looks like he has all the tools to be a great Safety.
Personally, i can see the upside of a pass rusher at that pick, but i still have the Gholston blues, and would rather go pass rusher in FA, jmo.

EDIT: Especially when Mingo appears to have some of the same criticisms as VG.

    Damnit, GO JETS!

not bad....you flip flop rd. 3&4 picks, might buy in.

I like Vaccaro... It's just that he's a safety so naturally there are a lot of plays that he won't have an impact on.

The one issue I'd worry about with Vaccaro is injury. He's already had a torn ACL, he was banged up for his pro day.

Oh, thanks for that. Didnt see anything regarding that in my limited research.
that certainly may hold some weight.

Based on the array of depth and actual options in THIS draft, I would disagree.

#9 and #13 (we will have to see who's still there, but I agree Cooper or Warmack or Mingo/Jordan combo)

I strongly disagree on Austin at #13, even Eifert. Why? TE is deep in this draft and fairly level through Rd 3. The OLB pass rusher drop off is pretty considerable after the top four come off the board. Guys like Moore, Collins are not in the same stable. OG, OLB, S or WR (again, depends on which offers BPA in Rd. 2), then TE in Rd. 3 or so is a better strategy for this group of players. I think the Jets get more from this route than giving up on OLB in Round 1 for a guy like Austin. I'd rather go for Hopkins or Allen as a true WR a bit later, not a tiny gimmick guy with a high pick. You want a weapon? It should be a defensive weapon to rush the passer... that would be Mingo or Jones, given how it's likely to play out.

Talked to a GM last night about trading down, said he preferred 2014 picks as compensation.

RT @JennyVrentas: Alabama CB Dee Milliner says Jets like him. "They probably like me even more now since they got rid of Revis," he says.

Would much rather see mingo or another pass rusher at 9 and trade down w/ 13 to get a faster guard like Long or Armstead and a db (hayden?). Remember it's not ground and pound anymore, we need a lightning quick guy who can pull and get to the second level, not just a guy to open up holes. Cooper and Warmack are monsters and put on a clinic on the bench (plus warmack is fat as hell), but I'd think you want a guy who can run in a more uptempo dynamic offense.

Ugh that's the worse situation for me. Picking a corner high. So many other areas of greater need. Thankfully Rex won't have much say this year, otherwise it'd be automatic.

    Let me ask you guys;

Would you rather have Jones & Escobar/Ertz, or Eifert & Collins? It's gotta be Warmack & Jones if we're stuck at 9 and 13.

I asked Alabama CB Dee Milliner about possibility of replacing Revis. He said he'd be just as good, maybe better than Revis. #Jets

Mines don't in fact it tells me the exact opposite. In fact i cant remember the last time we drafted a player un the 1st rd that we where tied too prior to the draft..

Everyone had us taking jones or ingrim last year . By draft day people where saying Jones was a lock . How that work out.

  19. #39
Austin and Jones please. No to a guard in the first.

I think its different this year because of the 2 picks being so close, and the "Rex is smitten with Barkevious" talk.

I so hope you are right, i fear pass rushers so early.
