New York, NY - After falling out of the first round, former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith almost packed it up and went home for Round 2. Almost.
Now, he's in New York City to stay.
With the seventh pick in the second round (39th overall) the New York Jets took Smith to add to an all ready crowded quarterback situation that still includes Mark Sanchez, David Garrard, Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy.
Smith was projected as the top quarterback in the draft, a sure-fire first round pick, who could go as high as fourth overall to Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles.
