Geno pick gives Rex multiple more years here.

His boy Sanchez is gone and the pick of Smith puts an exclamation point to the team's gutting and rebuilding.

Unless the team goes like 2-14, he'll get an extension.

If true, best news of off season. Until of course Tebow released.

Woody cannot blame him on a bad year after what the F.O. has done here. He's not going anywhere unless he totally f*cks up.

Who would everyone rather have coach the Jets? Two afccgs in 4 years with a less than serviceable qb. Rex deserves some more time

I agree. You're not going to invest in a qb to just bring in a head coach the next who might not want him. Rex isnt going anywhere

Dunno. Some people never happy. While some just want to mimic whatever big Blew does. Rex is the man! Who cares if he has a personality?

I agree with Sooth. I'm sure that Woody insisted that one of the conditions of the Idzik hire was that Rex would stay beyond next year based upon this coming year's performance and not be an automatic dismissal. He LOVES Rex. Maybe Idzik doesn't have a "guy" waiting in the wings.

Whatever the Franchise (Woody & Idzik) intentions were, the pick of Geno Smith does not change them in any way.

If Rex was a one-or-out before, he still is.

If Rex was here for multiple years before, he still is now, barring disaster.

    Nothing has changed.

You don't thinknREX had anything to do with Milner or Richardson?

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a Sanchez-type extension before the season starts. You rarely see lame duck coaches unless they want to be.

I don't have a problem with that. What has Rex done to deserved being fired? Besides being a big mouth?

He has gotten us to two AFCG we probably shouldn't have on paper. Even with out "horrible team" and all those injuries last year we won 6 games. There have been up and down moments but for now, Rex does not deserve to be a lame duck. It's not his fault Sanchez cannot be a reasonable starter.

Good. The history if the NY Jets shows that coaching carousels don't work.

We're rooting for a different team next year.

please. Woody didn't want to fire Mike but knew he had to in order to hold on to any semblance of credibility in the area. If the Jets have another terrible season, almost for any reason, Rex will be next and it's such an easy call for Woody.

If Rex can get 6 wins out of that pile of shlt last year, he should be able to get at least 6 out of this year. He'll be back in '14.
