what in the hell is that?!
You have to LOL as you read the stupidity of his statements and assumptions.
As Geno Smith joins Mark Sanchez, NY Jets GM John Idzik's signals mixed
Although Idzik has been fueled by a big picture plan, he tap-danced around his quarterback mess — the biggest question surrounding the organization — with a myopic 'one day at a time' stance that you know he doesn’t truly believe.

John Idzik may have the last laugh years from now if the players he selected in his first draft flourish, but the Jets don’t look any better on paper than they did a week ago.
The new general manager turned three of the first 39 picks in the NFL draft into only one sure-fire starter (Dee Milliner) this season. He clouded an already chaotic quarterback situation by selecting the polarizing Geno Smith in the second round. He traded away a fourth-round pick for Saints backup running back Chris Ivory before signing him to a three-year contract.
He added no potential game-changing offensive skill position players to help his quarterback (whoever that may be).
“We are very sure of this plan,” Idzik said Saturday. “You’ve seen it in work now for three months and that’s going to continue in the future… We feel like we’ve really improved our team, specifically over these last three days.”
The draft capped a memorable week for Idzik, who made two seismic moves that will impact the future of the franchise. In the span of five days, the new GM traded away one of the best players in team history (Darrelle Revis) and drafted what the organization hopes is the next franchise quarterback.

“They were obviously highly visible moves,” Idik said. “They’re big moves for our organization… You’re going to have certain things to react to, certain things to make decisions on and those came about. We felt like we were prepared to do it. Looking back on it, I feel like all things considered, we made the right moves for the New York Jets.”
Idzik is stubborn, prudent and, as anyone can easily see from press conferences over the weekend, a very bad liar.
He had systematically gutted the roster of a bad team in the past couple months and patched up the holes with cheap, short-term fixes, scotch tape to hold the fort before he hopes to stock the organization with younger, more talented players in the next few years.
“He has a long-term plan,” a source familiar with the team’s draft process told the Daily News on Saturday.
Although Idzik has been fueled by that plan, he danced around his quarterback mess — the biggest question surrounding the organization — with myopic “one day at a time” rhetoric that you know he doesn’t believe.

what in the hell is that?!
LOL...."myopic one day at a time stance that he truly doesnt believe"
So Manish is just angry that he doesnt have Pettine feeding him stuff anymore, and that Idzik is telling the press nothing but cliches. Good for Idzik.
There are no mixed signals. There's finally an adult running the organization, and he's going to clean the slate as much as possible to put his vision into place. Better his vision than the Finklesteinsh:t kid Woody Johnson's. I like what Idzik is doing.
Seriously though, why is Mehta such a ****ing douchebag? And when did he transform from respectable beat writer with the Star Ledger to ****ing complete scumbag dirtbag loser with that NY garbage? What a tool.
So Mehta and Lupica are annoyed because Idzik has failed to share the Jets' strategic plan with them? LOL. More arrogant douchery from the press peanuts.
That can't be a real article. Somebody please tell me that's just a joke.
Such an unprofessional article.
Does Manish think he is entitled to every detail of the Jets' internal plans? Get over yourself.
That statement is simply laughable. The Jets don’t look any better on paper than they did a week ago.
That counts as journalism? Wow. More like op-ed. Belongs in the "Letters to the Editor" column.
Manish sucks donkey balls.
haha this guy is cute
This whole industry is shrinking and he knows it's a dog-eat-dog business, so he tries his best to stay relevant by smearing dog **** all over everything thinking its stink will get him noticed. And it works because people engage it rather than just dismissing it as the garbage it always is!
Florio is basically the same person.
Thanksfully Rex seems to have a GM who can now advise him a little better on how to handle these TMZ wannabees.
This is Manish trying to get the first laugh, trying to extend the laughs from last year when the Jets were a confusing mess on offense.
Hey Manish, Idzik and the Jets had a very, very solid draft. I know it stinks for you and you're trying to drag on the drama as long as you can but here are the facts - 1. The Jets acquired talent this weekend, 2. They addressed the QB position in an appropriate and measured way with a 2nd round pick, 3. They have started to trim the roster (Tebow) and may continue to do so. If they keep Sanchez for 2013 then they have some decent competition and options at QB with Garrard, Sanchez and Smith.
The circus is leaving town Manish. I'm sorry you're not going with it.

Why do you guys keep opening threads about a beat writer? wtf cares! Every day you whine about different beat writers. Grow Up!
Meta doesnt like us, cimini doesnt like us, the media doesnt like us, mike mayock doesnt like us. WAH WAH WAH WAH.
If it weren't for guys complaining on this board from time to time, would anybody even know the Daily News is still in publication?
Gil Brandt said we had one of the best drafts overall. While I would've preferred Warmack to Milliner, every round after 1 was very well done.
Round 1 I didn't love, but not for any reason other than I thought it was important to send a message to season ticket holders like me that they did in fact care about the offense, which would've been bolstered by Warmack over Milliner.
While I can't say I know much about Richardson and I really didn't like that pick, it still could work.
They got the best QB prospect in round 2 and the best CB at 9. You can't really argue with that. Or you can if you are stupid.
That article is all over the place and his concluding paragraph is telling. I guess he doesn't realize that the vast majority of the fan base understands what is going on and that we have a GM in place who will not sacrifice the future for a marginal gain in the present. It will take years to fairly assess the wisdom of Idzik’s decisions in the last week, but the immediate returns aren’t going to excite a fan base staring at another forgettable season.
Since moving over to the Daily Newsrag, Mehta has become a colossal douche as well as losing all credibility as an objective reporter. He's now just another worthless sensationalist. He was once pretty damned good. What a waste. Just call him Madouche Mehta.
What's funny is I keep saying Cimini is doing much better job lately. Manish is taking over the ball sucking crap writer job.
On a side note, I expect the Jets to be a bit worse than last year. They have 40 million dollars in dead cap space!! They have about 30% of their entire cap not playing!! But then, the mess is cleared, and they can get serious about adding a few veterans to go along with the good younger players they are adding.
