The OC, along with oversight from the HC decides who plays. That is not the GM's decision to make. At least if he trusts the people he employs, he'll stay the hell out of coaching decisions.

Sad, but true. Realistically, Geno will have to beat out Gerrard for the job. Unless Morningweg a miracle worker, just can't see Sanchez in the mix. I really hope the Jets learned from the mistake they made with Sanchez and let Geno sit and learn from a veteran. Think they will have to keep Sanchez for financial reasons, but doubt he sees field. I could see Gerrard as starter, Geno #2, and Kerley as emergency, with Sanchez inactive. McElroy and Simms on practice squad.

    Exactly!
It's not gonna be all G&P like it was in 2009, the philosophy will be the same, protect, protect, protect, run the ball, but because Geno is so much farther ahead than where Sanchez was coming out MM will be doing with Geno what Geno does best, short passing, one- two read offense, taking shots down the field but with max protection.
Build his confidence, don't ask too much, but I feel Geno will be able to execute a lot more than Sanchez solely based on the fact that he's more accurate & will move the chains on a more consistent basis.
    More reps equals more steps
Add more in as he gets comfortable.

Thats predicated on his receivers getting open and the OL giving him a bit of time.

idzik and MM have a strategy to fix the offense. they kinda lucked out with a qb worth grooming. they got 2 new rbs and a fb, all of whom can catch. they fortified the OL with veterans and draft picks and can finally cut ducasse and let moore walk. they didn't add skill positions but didn't have enough picks to do it. at least geno will have a running game and enough quality lineman. hopefully holmes comes back to form so geno has enough guys running around to make things interesting. if geno shows enough the focus in the offseason and draft will be to get elite offensive weapons and olbs who can rush the passer.

release mark, start Garrard for the 1st half of the year then if Garrard is stinking it up bring in Geno. If garrard is playing decently let Geno sit and learn this year
