Wow- that's kind of a d!ck move. His agent probably fronted 10s of thousands of dollars in pre-draft camps, trainers, travel etc. let alone the hours spent working for Geno.

I'm sure he'll get reimbursed for those expenses and the work....but no where near the 3% he was about to earn off the rookie contract.

i am sure he is getting part of the blame for Geno falling to 39.

This is the first crack in the dam. I'm tired of the drama already.

How about this: Geno Smith thought he would be & should be the No. 1 overall pick, I'm told. That's why he fired his agents. #nyj

Oh no, you know what this says, selfish and will expect a contract worthy of a mid first round QB pick. we are in trouble and we are not 5 days out.

I would understand if they told him he would be the #1 pick, but if they didn't give him any such assurances, it sounds like a dick move on Geno's part.

He is locked in at the price for that pick thanks the the CBA.

I thought rookie contracts were all slotted now. Is there really that much wiggle room in the new CBA?

Agreed, this isn't a particularly encouraging sign.

Rook contracts are slotted and better yet, they can't renegotiate them until after the third year IIRC.

    I'm shocked, shocked.

Gotta blame someone, after all it couldn't be that he was drafted where he should have been. Many scouts were saying he would have been graded 4th round if it weren't such a weak QB class.
