You never know how things will turn out for young teams.

Rex Ryan has consistently put out top-10 defenses over the course of his career. Marty Mornhinweg has consistently put out top-10 offenses over the course of his career. Pair them together and don't blow games on special teams and turnovers, then we have a formula for winning.
Well, if we end up 32nd, we get the #1 pick in a good looking draft; if we don't end up #32 we get to show up the media and perform better than expected. Sounds like a win / win to me.

I love people that say that by adding Geno and releasing Tebow we have somehow made our QB situation a bigger mess.

We can all agree that we do not have a great QB situation, but adding, arguably, the best QB prospect to a team that needs a QB is normally considered a good move.

The crazy thing is that finishing 32nd would mean that we would win 2-3 games in 2013. But if we finish 7-9 or 8-8 they will still call that a disappointment and still be calling for Rex' head. No matter what we do beyond making a deep playoff run the media will make it seem like we were the worst team in the NFL. That's just the way it is.

As good a defense you think you built. Can that defense stop the run and they still look very vulnerable to the Te's. Not to mention there secondary isn't as good as you think it is. Teams can have success throwing against that secondary.
Was this a serious post? Jets just added the top corner in the draft and were a top pass defense last year without Revis. Added a top DT to plug the middle and beat up on teams like the Bills twice every year. Whatever. These rankings are pointless.

I really miss the "Would you rather have Pennington or Brady?" polls - and Pennington would win 85% to 15%.

    Those were the days.

Far from the worst team in the league.

    Power Rankings make me chuckle.

First off you don't know if he was the best Qb. ( he wasn't even the first Qb taken). See Shariff Floyd and Star who same people had rated the top DT.

Adding the best Qb in last year class of Qb's ( Luck and RG 111 was a great Qb class) is something . Taken one of the best Qb's in a weak Qb class isn't the game changer you're making it out to be. One of those guys could develop in time but none of them are going to have much of impact this years. There is a reason most of these Qb's didn't go in the first round.

All it takes is some wins and they'll quiet down. Not saying you guys are good, just like the dolphins weren't good last year, but it's also pretty silly to put you or us in dead last.
It's not based off of hate, it's based off of talent and previous year finish.

For whatever it's worth the last 2 years the 32nd ranked team in their poll after the draft made the playoffs (2012: 31st and 32nd team - Colts and Vikings, 2011: Bengals).

Just random, really. But the idea that it's only because of "hate" is silly.

The Jets really don't have a lot of offensive talent. Other than Santonio Holmes, there's not a single player who has 1,000 yards from scrimmage, they have 1 QB who is among the worst starters in the NFL, another QB who hasn't thrown a pass in over 2 seasons, and a 2nd round draft pick. IT's not so shocking to think the Jets would be the worst team in the NFL.

Last year was pretty bad on offense and we still won 6 games. This year defense got better and offense should be better as long as these guys dont start, Gilyard, Gates, J Hill, S Hill, maybe Cumberland. With Ivory as the back (can he catch?), we should win at least 6, but Im going with 8.

Yes my post was serious. Again you say Jets drafted the top Cb . Did they only time will tell. ( The jets at Cb with loss of Revis their secondary isn't as good- fact) JMO A Cromartie had a career year in 2012. And won't have any where close to year he had last year. ( See San Diego - same thing)

Jets had a pretty good Dline already. Adding a 6'2 293 guy to defensive tackle rotation isn't a game changer.( You know the 330 beast he will be seeing at guard- let's see what he does for your run defense. Case in Point L Houston put up way better numbers at combine than S Richardson when he came out. ( In almost every area and he would give something up As a run stuffer in the NFL.

Where the Jets needed to upgrade their defense they did nada. Where is the pass rushing Olb. Where is the safeties that can matchup with the Te's.
Last point Jets defense has talent but does it mesh. Some players seem better suited for 3-4 and some better suited for 4-3.
How do you make it work when for example d Harris is a full time Lb.

The Jets 2013 defense isn't going to be as good as some seem to think. What't the over and under for how many yards McFadden puts up on that defense again.

Are you saying that "right now" the only team Jets might be better than is the Jags? Or that, you don't think the only other team that can be worst than the Jets this year are the Jags.

I ask, because the Jets went 5-10 last year with the same team as this year (Shonn Greene for Chris Ivory/Powell, Gerrard/Sanchez/Smith vs. Sanchez/Tebow/McElroy). Landry and Slauson are the only good players who were healthy last season and left the team.

Honestly, you could easily make the argument that any of the bottom 7 teams (Jets, Jaguars, Bills, Raiders, Browns, Cardinals, and Titans) are among the leagues worst.

I've always found the power rankings pointless.

There's about 15 or 16 teams with legit QB's. The rest of the league is ranked 32nd.
