Know they've taken a beating from a PR standpoint, but I've talked to a few rival evaluators who think the Jets did real well in the draft.

    These opinions don't matter...

Just comes down to how good these guys are. Truthfully, it really only comes down to how good Geno is.

Not true at all. Geno is a 2nd round pick making minimum money because of the rookie wage scale. We can easily take a qb next year if we deem he is not the answer.

A 2nd round pick with the rookie wage scale does not make or break your draft.

In my opinion, Idzik managed to solidify our OL, DL, and RB groups for the next 3-5 years.

QB is yet to be seen. If Geno is a success, then add QB to the list.

to come out of a draft having shored up 3 or 4 units on a baron roster is pretty good.

bingo. Idzik is far from married to Geno.

if Geno was the highest player on their board when they picked, then he was the right choice.

Don't tell SAR this. It'll royally f**k up his belief that we'll forever be a disastrous circus as long as Rex is involved with anything including the draft.

No, lets tell him, any chance we have to royally overload his circuits to cause a complete mental meltdown would be a good thing, his insecurity and psyche is already fragile, send it over the edge!!

Jeremiah said the same thing last night on NFLN.

The reviews on Milliner and Winters have been overwhelmingly positive. Richardson is a great player but we might have to change the scheme for him and Geno Smith should be an upgrade over Sanchez.

Obviously a lot hinges on Smith, but if Winters becomes a solid starter and Richardson/Milliner turn into pro bowl players you can't look at this draft and complain. Geno failing is as bad as any other 2nd rounder that fails. Its not like the Jets are investing that much in him.

Your missing the point if you think that Dee & Sheldon are less important than a QB who may not play this season. We picked him at a value spot and at the most he will cost us a combined $5m over the next 5 years. That's great for a backup QB even if he doesn't pan out as a Franchise QB. For that, you take the risk and pass on any of the other prospects that we could've had at the point of the 2nd round because the possibility of him becoming a franchise QB is too great to pass up on. Imagine for a second the ridicule we would have gotten if we passed him up for a Safety or WR? They would be killing us in the press.
