    Are We Better off?

Just a list of changes. On the left are the new players to the right old.
I honestly dont see how we dont at least grab 7 wins with this schedule and the new additions...

RB : Chris Ivory --- Bilal Powell
FB : Tommy Bohanon --- John Griffin
    G : Willie Colon --- Dennis Landolt
    G : Brian Winters --- Caleb Schlauderaff
    T : Austin Howard --- Vladimir Ducasse
TE : Jeff Cumberland --- Konrad Reuland
DE : Sheldon Richardsn --- Quinton Coples
NT : Antonio Garay --- Sione Pouha
OLB : Quinton Coples --- Garrett McIntyre
OLB : Calvin Pace --- Ricky Sapp
CB : Dee Milliner --- Darrelle Revis

Looking at it this way, eh. BTW, some of the guys on the right side are, I think, contrived. Keller, Greene, Slauson, Moore are where?
Also, please forecast these 7 wins by team. Anything is possible, but???

    Our Secondary is much worse.

Our Running Backs are flat, might even be a step back.

We added no WR's to replace Schillens, Gates, and Gilyard.

We added no TE's to replace Keller.

We added no pass-catching RB to replace Tomlinson (Year 3).

We added no pass rushing DL or LB.

The offense is worse than last year right now. Edwards, Keller, Greene gone.

The defense is worse than last year right now. Revis, Landry, Bell gone.

    4-12.

The schedule is brutal, we'll be underdogs in almost every game

Come on, even the most pessimistic Jet fan should be able to see that Ivory and Goodson are a big upgrade from Greene and Powell. Goodson is a very good receiver as a RB.

Safety and TE are the biggest areas of concern IMO.

2-14 because your boy is still on the roster. If he's a June cut, that's worth two wins. He's a distraction. Nice headband.

Hi SAR, I've never argued with you. This is my first time. so take it easy on me.

Ivory and Goodson are pass catching RBs
Santonio Holmes (hate him if you will) can be considered an add to this year's roster
    Tight Ends - you're right
With the first round pick, Jets selected Richardson (he plays on the DL)
    Coples moved to OLB
Revis didn't play last year and the Jets won 6 games. Jets drafted two safeties last year and added Milliner this year.

I think you're jumping the gun on writing off all my points. Don't you think you should wait and see? What if the players we picked up are good?

Jury's out on Ivory, but I'm optimistic there because Greene was so bad.

Goodson was only used as a receiving threat once in his four years, has 1 career TD receiving and averages 1.5 catches per game otherwise.

    Not 'my boy'.

I merely think that there's a 30% chance he might turn out to be decent and since we've waited 40 years for a franchise QB it's prudent to see what he's got with a qualified OC (check) and some bonafide playmakers (nope) since we suck and are paying him anyway.

Everything you said besides the TE comment is wrong. Not even going to respond with anything else.

We added no WR's to replace Schillens, Gates, and Gilyard. - SANTONIO IS BACK AND WE WILL BE ADDING A VETERAN BEFORE CAMP STARTS (BRAYLON POSSIBILY)

We added no TE's to replace Keller. KELLER DIDNT PLAY LAST YEAR, BUT THIS IS DEF A NEED.

We added no pass-catching RB to replace Tomlinson (Year 3). MIKE GOODSEN IS A GREAT PASS CATCHING BACK, JOE MCKNIGHT CAN ALSO PLAY THAT ROLL IF USED PROPERLY.

We added no pass rushing DL or LB. -SHELDON RICHARDSON AND BARNES SAY HELLO

The offense is worse than last year right now. Edwards, Keller, Greene gone.

The defense is worse than last year right now. Revis, Landry, Bell gone. THE SECONDARY HAS TAKEN A HIT, BUT REVIS DIDNT PLAY LAST YEAR..OUR DEFENSE IS MUCH YOUNGER AND FASTER UPFRONT. ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION WITH THE AGING VETS GONE BEING REPLACED BY THE YOUNGER GUYS WE HAD READY TO TAKE OVER. COPLES MOVING TO OLB AND THE ADDITION OF BARNES WILL HELP GENERATE PASS RUSH ON THE OUTSIDE.

Agreed, i grabbed the roster from right before the draft, should have used last years.

Heres the games i can see us winning, obviously not everyone, but each game by itself is not a reach at all. I think its reasonable we win 6/9 of these.

    Week1 Bucs
    Week3 Bills
    Week3 Titans
    Week11 Bills
    Week13 Dolphins
    Week14 Raiders
    Week15 Panthers
    Week16 Browns
    Week17 Dolphins

How about listing some negatives in addition to those glowing statements?

There are stats and there is ability. Goodson is a far better receiver than he is an every down rusher. His lone season that he was used on a regular basis he had 40 receptions, he is built more like a receiver than a RB. He is not going to be a threat between the tackles, but will excel running to the outside and as a receiving threat. Mornhinweg loves lining up RBs as receivers in the slot, Goodson will get to show his abilities in this WCO, a 50 reception season is not out of the question this year.

If you don't want opinions you find unsavory, don't start a thread asking for them.

With the exception of Goodsen potentially being a pass-catching threat, everything else I posted is a valid point of view that you can accept or disregard if you choose to.

There is no "wrong" on an opinion.

I'm never hard on anyone, so no need to take it easy. We're all Jets fans here.

Ivory is not a receiving RB, Goodson was but only once in 4 years:

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/...87/chris-ivory
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/...9/mike-goodson

Holmes, even when healthy, is now our only receiving threat especially with the loss of Keller. He was doubled and neutralized last year, might get worse with out the TE this year.

Richardson, Milliner......don't get sucked in to the Rookie Vortex. We do this every year in May, fall in love with college boys, pin our hopes to rookie contributors, and nothing happens.

We all wait and see, definitely could have made some nice additions. But as we sit here on May 6, we are a team that lost 13 of 22 starters and haven't addressed WR or TE at all and know our Secondary can't be as good. Rookies under Ryan have never contributed in a major way.

We are rebuilding. No crime in that. It means that there is no chance of the playoffs. So pick a win total between 3 and 6 and hope for nice weather and tasty sausage because that's all this season can bring you as a fan.

    That's excellent news.

We can slam Mark Sanchez all day long, but the single biggest issue that crushed the kid was the loss of LT as a reliable dump-off safety valve. Sparano's offense didn't need one, apparently, so getting Morningsig and Goodson will improve completion percentage, first downs, and touchdowns if what you say comes to fruition.

Don't make fun. He's only active in 3 or 4 threads, and he's only expressing his opinion that everyone sucks, and that the only good news is that some of our new guy can't possibly suck as bad as the old guys sucked. Please stop quoting him. Just block him like everyone else.
